easter shadow box mini book frame

hi there! you picked a GOOD DAY to come by here todaY! what you are about to see will totally BRIGHTEN your day, it will totally super-charge your creative spirit and it will have you cracking out your crafting supplies and get you  MAKING PRETTY STUFF!! i am completely in LOVE with this project created by Jennifer Evans.  ok… ENJOY THIS!!

I love giving, especially on Easter. I guess that’s what is special about those that craft. We can always create something to give to those we love. Those handmade Easter gifts are the ones that people remember more than the box of Peeps they won’t eat. ;)

This Wood Shadow Box Frame is perfect to give to someone this Sunday! I knew I wanted to make it “look” like spring so I white washed the outside of the frame with white paint. Then, I used Heidi’s new Doily Flower Stencil (in Michael’s Stores in May) and dabbed Mustard Color Shine with a cosmetic sponge over top. After covering the back of the frame with paper from the 12×12 Sugar Chic Paper Pack, I set it aside to make the little mini album to go inside.

I wanted to personalize the pages so I added a Pink Paislee Luxe Gold Glittered Alphabet on top of a Color Magic Note and Paper Flower. This tag is tied to the top of the bound mini with Color Magic Seam Binding left white.

Flipping open the mini book, I decorated the flaps with pretty embellishments, a Clear Pop Tag, and places to add their own photographs. It was my husband’s idea. He mentioned to me, “For those that are not artists, it is hard to imagine where the photos should go.” So, I made sure to make a place obvious by using the Instaframes through out the book.

My new favorite thing to do is to cut my own fringe from white tissue paper and then mist it with Color Shine. This one was created with Gold Lame’ and placed on top of Color Magic Scalloped Ribbon misted with Mustard.

I left a page for note taking. I used a Sugar Chic Openable and decorated the front to match the other pages using Black and White Buzz Words and Sentiment Stickers. For fun I added a Clear Pop Tab to the left side of the page. I love how the translucent tab plays with the layers!

The little book makes it quite obvious to “write notes here” too. ;)

I knew I wanted to include a Color Magic Jumbo Tag in the mini book since it was the perfect size. To help it match the rest of the gift, I took my cosmetic sponge with Mustard Color Shine again and wiped it along the edge of the tag leaving the center white. Then, I finished it off with Sugar Chic paper, Chipboard Stickers, a Color Label, Color Pop Banner Delights, a Mini Instaframe, and some rub ons from the Colorful Instaframe pack.

Lastly, I used the Color Pop Black Pop as is, with a Colorful Instaframe and some Clear Pop Banner Delights. To let this layer peek through when the album is closed I added some more Color Magic Scallop Ribbon misted in Black Velvet Color Shine on the bottom edge.

When the pages were done, I bound it all with the We R Memory Keepers Cinch Book Binding Tool. I was very generous with the glue on the back of the album and lined up the back page with the yellow stripes and placed it down.

Now I have a beautiful project that will for sure make someone’s holiday!

is it the COLOR COMBO?? happy yellow, and classic black and white?

is it the delicious layers that so perfectly peek out one from the next?

is it the fabulous concept and GENEROUS gift of creating something that the recipient can then add their own personal photos?

WHATEVER “IT” is… i LOVE IT! THANK YOU Jennifer EVANS!! this made my day!
