i just LOVE the base paper that Maridette has used for the background and BASE of her project today! i love her “mix” today with digi elements, core’dinations goodies and LOTS of Mixed Company and Color Shine! makes me want to “play!”
For a long time now I’ve always created some interactive layouts and mini albums. That’s why when Heidi Swapp created this new and fresh way of documenting your memories in a Memory File I fell in love. I mean seriously.. in one memory file project you can incorporate an endless amount of photos and interactive pages. For more ideas on Interactive Scrapbook Pages check out Heidi Swapp on My Craft Channel This year my daughter began High School and made it on the tennis team. We love the fact that she’s having fun and is loves being part of the team. I’ve seen her confidence build up and she is just happy. It makes my heart sing. This past summer was her first tennis competition. The team worked hard and won 2nd place in their division. So I wanted to create an interactive layout to document this accomplishment.
I first print and cut out some words and labels from the Heidi Digi shop using Photoshop. As well as my Silhouette Cameo.
You will use the following digi elements:
Open all of the digi labels and phrases you like from the instaframes: colorful.
Then create a new blank canvas by going to FILE then New and make sure it’s 8.5 x 11 canvas size.
Afterwards drag one by one the number of labels you wish onto the canvas. On how to do so is to make sure you click onto the MOVE tool which is located on the top left corner. click onto the label file hold and drag to the canvas. You can adjust the size by grabbing on of the corners and drag it while at the same time holding your shift key to make it bigger or smaller. Repeat for the rest of the labels. Once that’s done then you’ll want to merge all the layers by going to LAYER then to FLATTEN.
Then repeat with the phrases and drag and drop onto the labels. I’ve left some blank as well. Then FLATTEN as previously.
Once you’ve done all that SAVE the file. Then open your Silhouette Cameo window OPEN and find the file you’ve just created. Once you’ve done that then follow this video on how to change a png file to a cutting file by Heidi Swapp I used vellum paper to give it a different texture. On another page in the Silhouette open your word files and follow the video to change the png file to cutting files. I used white cardstock to cut my words. Since you’ve got your Silhouette open using the Core’ dinations Glittered 6×6 cardstock I cut the name “Gabby” using any fonts you have on the computer. I used the BEBAS font.
Now for the layout.
You will need….
Die cutting machine (I used a Cricut Cuttlebug)
Cricut Cuttlebug Star Emboss
White 8 1/2 x 11 Cardstock
Crop o Dile
I’ve used some of the gorgeous new Color Shine colors such as Coral and Seafoam that are just so amazing to play with. Grab the new Color Magic Pressed Paper Frame that’s a circle shape and cut in half. Then spray it with seafoam as well as the words “tennis” from the Color Magic Resist Alphabet. I love that these new alphas are just the right size. Take your word cuts and spray “happy” and “together” with coral. Grab tinsel, spray the four stars and one jumbo pennant. Spray “today” in navy. Set these aside to dry.
To start I used the grey and coral 12×12 for the background. I then took the Mixed Company Playful paper and cut up the specific numbers for the date and the word “play”. Take Mixed Company Bouquet and fussy cut the floral corners. Place the large floral piece to the top right corner and the smaller floral cuts to the bottom left corner.
Adhere the “play” piece to the top left of the page and the numbers over the the floral cuts to the bottom left corner. Cut the Mint green striped banner from the Mixed Company Banner Delight into two pieces and layer them over the large floral cut. Now adhere the two vellum labels and overlap each other in between the word “play” and the large floral cut. Embellish with the “tennis” alphas, star and arrow from the Color Pop Chipboard Moments.
Using the Mixed Company 6×6 paper pad grab three pieces of paper. Here I used the grey/white bow, mint green arrows and the navy/white stars. Cut the grey/bow paper to 6×5, both the mint green arrows and the stars to 4×6. distress and stagger layers.
Next for the front page of the mini book I will show you how to create a distress embossed page using these awesome Core’ dinations papers. These papers once distressed reveals a lighter color. Here I used the Cricut Cuttlebug and the Stars embossed plate. Cut a 5×7 piece of cardstock and place it in between the plate. Run it through the Cuttlebug or any machine you have and out comes an embossed paper. cut out what’s not embossed. Pretty awesome right?
But wait.. there’s more! Take your sandpaper and sand it over the paper. You’ll see the lighter core color appear. I then used the clean cloth to “dust” off the shavings. voila! Distressed stars.
To create the mini interactive pages you will need:
2 4×6 page protectors
4×6 vellum paper
4 pieces of 4×6 papers from the 6×6 Mixed Company paper pad
Embossed core’dinations paper score 1″ at the left side
1 Color Magic Jumbo pennant score the edge 1″
Cut 2 strips of 4 1/4 x 2. Score at both at 1″ and fold.
Take the 2 strips of paper to cover the edge of the page protectors. I then adorned the vellum paper with those cute confetti rub ons. Now gather all of the pieces together and punch two holes that will bind together with the mini brads. For the first page I adhered the vellum labels,”today” and chipboard arrow to the front. I then attached the half circle Color Magic Pressed Frame to the edge of the paper and added the name with stars. I adorned the pages with photos.vellum labels, word cuts, Color Pop Chipboard Moments and Mixed Company Journaling Spots. Lastly adorn the page with the Color Magic Stars and Confetti Rub ons.
I can’t wait to see your interactive pages!

after spending time with Dette this last weekend when i was up at Scrapbook Island, we got to catch up quite a bit, and she was telling me all about how much TENNIS has become a huge part of her daugther’s life. As a teenager, i think that it’s so important to document their interests and the accomplishments- this is a great way to recognize Gabby’s Tennis journey! LOVE it… LOVE the silhouette and the embossing!! LOVE the interactive layout! thanks Dette!!
