Happy Friday everyone!

I am really excited to share with you all some of my latest scrapbook pages I created using the brand new Heidi Swapp Hawthorne collection.  My excitement definitely lies in the fact that these really were pages that I consider of out of my “comfort zone”.  I used techniques and concepts that I normally do not use (or do often).  However can I just say how REFRESHING it is creatively to do that every once in a while? Seriously…I think it was SO needed!  And the end result? I LOVE these pages!

I embraced some Mixed Media techniques to bring these pages to life.  I also added in some cut files from my Silhouette Cameo which was a really fun addition in combination with my mixed media tools.  My Minc machine helped bring it all together.  It was the best creative exercise. A true creative full circle moment.

The Clear Magic Medium specifically is a really fabulous product when used in conjunction with the Minc machine.

It is a clear medium that can be applied to your projects. Once the medium is fully dry and run through the Minc application machine with any desired colour of Minc foil the beautiful foiled effects that result are amazing.

For these pages specifically, the mixed media products I chose to use are:

*Magic Medium

*Texture Paste

*Art Screen Ink

*Color Shine

I used these products to embellish and enhance the cut files I chose.  I never really had thought about adding mixed media touches to my cut files…but now that I have I think it will be something I will do often.  I loved how simple it was to transform and customize the cut files even further.  It was a great way to add texture, dimension and really transform them to fit and coordinate with my overall vision.

I adored layering all of the different butterflies together, each with their own individuality.  Even though they all have a different mixed media style they all fit together so perfectly.  I really wish these photos could do the details justice!  Especially the art screen ink. It was so hard to photograph but when admired in the light the floral art screen design shimmers so pretty against the Raspberry Color Shine.

I also loved using the Magic Medium on these floral wreath cut files.  It adds just the right amount of pop, shimmer and added dimension.

So if you are looking for something new to try, or are finding yourself in a creative rut…I truly encourage you to push yourself and try a new idea or technique that normally isn’t something you would do. Adding in mixed media techniques was not only refreshing for myself creatively but I also found it to be super relaxing to just play and experiment! Such a great way to just have fun and remember to enjoy the creative process.  No rules here… just inspiring creative play!
