Today I want to talk about Memory Planners. Specifically personal sized ones. A lot of times when people look at planners they think about them in the traditional sense. However…memory planners can make the most fabulous journaling tools! They are already laid out monthly and weekly, ready to take on whatever is to be gracing their pages!
This month I decided to devote my Memory Planner to document a more personal challenge for myself. Have you ever heard of 100 happy days?
In a nutshell, it is a challenge to document 100 days of happy (whatever that means to you) in whatever way works for you.
Some may choose photography. Others may choose painting. Others may choose keeping a simple notebook.
I chose this personal sized Memory Planner (which you can find right now at JOANN stores and JOANN online) to serve as the home where I will jot down happy moments/memories /thoughts per day for 100 days.
To be honest, I really felt like April kicked my butt hard. I was finding myself sinking into a negative head space and in need of snapping myself out of it asap. I have and continue to personally struggle with my mental health (especially anxiety) so this project could not have come alive for me at a more perfect time. Considering May is also Mental Health Awareness month…well it all just looks like this was meant to be!
Plain and simple, I was craving some way to recharge myself. Reframe my thinking and focus on things that energize me, inspire me and strengthen my spirit. To silence those fears, worries and anxieties that were taking up WAY too much real estate in my mind.
So after giving it some thought, keeping a Memory Planner to take on this challenge I thought would be a fabulous way to go about this journey. And in the end what a beautiful keepsake this will be too! Something to hold on to and read over again and again when I find myself in the valleys of my mental health.
Again…my system is very straightforward and simple. The key here for me is to just GET IT DOWN. Sometimes it can get so noisy and full inside our minds that releasing these thoughts onto paper feels like such a positive release. Creativity and the act of being creative has always been such a therapeutic tool for me. I love to play and make things pretty so I added a lot of my favourite stickers from this Heidi Swapp Sticker Book
I am obsessed with all the stickers found in this book…it is a MUST have!
I am loving the direction this project is going! Considering it is only the middle of May I have already collected so many happy moments and thoughts that make me feel an overwhelming sense of peace, calm and reassurance. It may sound simple in theory….but this practice of consciously noting down positive thoughts really is powerful.
So far I am loving where this journey is headed and I would LOVE for you to join me on it!
All you need to get started is a personal sized Memory Planner, Heidi Swapp sticker book and a favourite pen!
Like one of my favourite quotes states: “every day may not be good, but there is something good in every day”.
