24 weeks to go.

24 weeks to go.

This is not an old ultrasound picture of Capri.

Two weeks ago, we got our first look at our 5th child.
I know.
I’m pregnant. Again!

Today I spilled the beans to my Big Picture “year to remember” class today! So the word is out! my mom was telling me how much she loves telling people the news cause she gets such great reactions! It is pretty fun… so far, everyone that I have told has totally freaked out. not more than my own level of freak out!  We were fairly sure that we wanted to have one more child, so that Capri wouldn’t be all alone with the rest of the kids so much older… but not 11 months later. You would think that by the 5th go around, I’d know what causes this! (wink!)
We are thrilled and excited. Scared and nervous. And sure that if one infant threw off your schedule and makes it hard to run into the grocery store for that one forgotten ingredient, TWO infants… less than a year apart will REALLY present a challenge.
Capri and our new baby will be 11 months apart.  My due date is July 15th. I figure I am a lot better off than I was last year with only a month before Creative Escape… this year I will have what, 7 weeks?  much better!

I have truly been blessed this go around.
I haven’t been sick at all… I have been a little tired, and a little emotional! (that might be due to reality, and not necessarily hormones!) I feel great… I LOVE having baby Capri around. She is an absolute DELIGHT. Each day she gets funner and cuter and more alert. It’s amazing… and can you imagine, we will do it again!
I am very thankful to be a mother.
Blessed to have such bright and charming children who love their parents and one another.  i marvel at how different I am as a woman, and  mother than I was 9 years ago when I had my first… I am thankful for my personal growth and how that has allowed me to serve and teach my children.
I am humbled.
I believe that God has a plan. And I trust that He will bless me with the capacity I need.

Only 24 ½  weeks to go.

Just wanted to add my congrats, Heidi! I have two boys who are less than a year apart. The first was a 28 week preemie, so when #2 was born, #1 seemed to think he was 9 months old…really he was almost 1, but for awhile there…well…It was crazy (and by crazy, I mean, without pics and journalling–yeah scrapbooking!–I wouldn’t remember a thing!), but now they are almost 2 and almost three and they are adorable and fun together. Still a handfull, but such good little friends. Now that we’re having #3 in a few months I realize that it isnt the norm to do things the way we did originally, but I certainly wouldn’t change it!
    What exciting news! Again, congrats!!

Congrats Heidi! I’m a mom of 5 too. Mine were all doorsteps…between 1 1/2 years to 2 years apart. My oldest is 20 and the baby is 14 years old now. They have been very close and fight like best friends over the years, but they will always have each other. Best wishes!

Heidi! I am so happy for you! A little bird told me you were expecting again… (someone from your ward) but I didn’t dare say anything, until you did. It’s your news, and I know you will ROCK as a mother of “Irish Twins!” I bet your older three are ecstatic! Good Luck! Look forward to all the future blogs, and darling scrap pages.

I can’t think of a better family to welcome this new little one!!! Love reading your blog, thanks for sharing yourself and your family with the rest of us…makes us feel that we can have it all, too! And if not, there is always tomorrow to try and finish the “to do” list! Thanks for inspiring so many of us to do what we love, create and take care of our families. I think it is so awesome that you guys worried about Capri not having a buddy, it truly does make a difference in a child’s life and so amazing that you recognized that and put her needs first. You are truly blessed! Congratulations! I can’t wait, and I am sure the rest of the blogging world can’t either, to watch this next step in your life! By the way, I did suck my lunch into my lungs as I read this post, I can see your mom totally getting a kick out of that response! tee hee!

You’ll have to ask my mom what it was like when we were infants (probably a little crazy since she already had a three year old!), but I can tell you that it has been one of the absolute joys of my life to have such a close friend in my younger brother. I know you will be blessed as a family, but I can’t help but think with delight on how close your two youngest will be. Congratulations again!

    Hi Heidi…..
Congratlutations on your news! We have five children also……..thought we were done after number four 5 years ago….and we were pleasantly surprised with Ellie last May!
Honestly now, I can’t imagine our family without our little Ellie Bellie! And can you believe, we are contemplating maybe a number 6…….?!!? The kids told us that we needed Ellie in our family because God wasn’t done with our family yet!
Our first two girls are 12 months and 11 days apart….and are now 13 and 12….we just celebrated our oldest daughter’s 13th birthday on the first of January and our second daughter’s golden birthday on the 12th! One more birthday to go this month as our son will be six next Friday…
Everyone always asks us what happens nine months before January as three of our five kiddos have birthdays in January….my hubby’s answer….spring! lol
Best of luck with your pregnancy….and have fun with your five kids!

Congrats! We had 4 kids really close in age and then 7 years after the last one #5 was born! And same thoughts as you-we wanted to have a sixth so that he wouldn’t be alone! We had #6 12 months later–life is great! I think we are done though-but you never know! Kari in Cali.

Longtime lurker here…. Congratulations! SUCH a thrill to read your story, as it takes me back to spring of 2001. I had a 3 month old (Aidan) and discovered I was pregnant again. Like you, I knew that Aidan wouldn’t be our last, because I didn’t want him to grow up another only child (our daughter is 10 years older)… but I never in a million dreamed that I’d have 2 babies within a year. I cried for 3 days when I discovered I was pregnant again. My only thought was, “I’ll never sleep again!” With Aidan, I’d been sick all 9 months, and then he was a terrible sleeper. But Ian was completely different. I didn’t throw up once, and he slept through the night starting at 6 weeks. Whew! Aidan and Ian are 11 months and 21 days apart. The first year just about killed me dead, but the years since have been beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. The old advice to “sleep while the baby sleeps” is so TOTALLY out of control when you have a newborn and a 1-year old. LOL!! Best wishes, lots of hugs, and heartfelt prayers for you as you begin this new journey.

Congratulations Heidi and family! you probably don’t get around to reading all your comments (all 200 or more of them!) but I thought I’d say my congrats, and that I feel your excitement but also that fluster about having two infants… I had my son Elijah at the end of May 06 and must have only been a few weeks before Capri arrived… and now I’m pregnant again too! Due 2 weeks before you though, and my two will be 13 months apart!! Crazy huh… (and I should know what causes it too, hehe, oops…) I too have been thinking lately how I won’t be able to just hop off to the shops for a few groceries anymore… how do you do that with 2 babies??
Congratulations anyway, and I hope the rest of your pregnancy goes really well…
now I’m off to read some of your archives as I haven’t really caught up with you since your beautiful girl was born – I bet she’s such a stunner now!!

If you get to my comment…well…that’s alot of congrats..
Just want to tell you that our last pregnancy was sort of a surprize…then it was more of a surprize to find that we were having twins! They were #4 and #5…
It was enough to take in the fact of a baby and then to find out it was two?!?!
The one thing I had to remind myself of was…God never says “oops!”
Twenty three years later….we survived (of course, we did) they were a double blessing to our family..
I know that this baby will be such a gift..as all babies are.
May you have a healthy time of it..and I will look forward to reading about this new little one – in 24 weeks!

just thought I would wish you congratulations, as well…I did hear this through the grapevine (through scrapbookeronline.com) last week…
I just had my first Dec. 6 and it was a big surprise because I had just miscarried 5 weeks earlier to getting pregnant with my son, so I was more than a little shocked to find out I was pregnant…but you are right, God has a plan and that child is meant to be with you…
God bless you, your pregnancy and your family…

Hi Heidi, congrats on the new baby. Ah, 2 in diapers. I know what that was like, I have twin boys, they are now 5. I remember lugging them two around in the grocery when they were in car seats! You will do just fine… And good luck!
