A Little Bit of Sugar
Those who know me, know I have a fear of glitter. It’s an anxiety of glitter really. That doesn’t mean I don’t love a bit of bling and sparkle! Sometimes to accent my favorite patterned papers I use some glitter glue! It’s all that shine without the mess! To get this fun sugar skull look, grab your favorite Glitter Glue colors and your Sugar Skull Marquee Kit and follow along…
When you open the marquee kit, it comes with this insert. I love the pattern, so I matched the glitter with the color on the paper. This way the design wasn’t changed but just enhanced. After filling in the design with what I wanted to shine, I let it dry over night.
After it was dry, I added inside the marquee shape.
Then, instead of using the clear bulbs that came in the kit, I used orange ones. (Sold separately). There is also a purple set, but I wanted to make the orange glitter pop some more!
Next, I flipped the skull over and used the provided instructions to know which hole to start with, so I could string the lights. The light strand fits perfectly this way!
Now, it was time to add the flowers to the top! These flowers also come in the kit! I used the American Crafts Sticky Thumb Cordless Mini Hot Glue Gun to adhere them all on.
I also added a small piece of tulle under the layers to add even more class. Ha!
Now, it will make the perfect gift for a friend this Halloween!
If your kids love to color, they will love how fun it is to color a design with glitter glue! If you have a fear of glitter give this project a try! It will give you similar results without the mess!
