back to school with my lightbox
Welcome to my classroom!
Some of you may know that I spend my days in the classroom in Brisbane Australia teaching Kindergarten and spend my nights memory keeping. I feel blessed that I get to work on two of my passions every day. I love that I also get to utilize some of Heidi’s most favorite products in my classroom! Let me take you on a bit of a classroom tour.
In Brisbane we are just starting our 3rd Term of the year and this term we have a Dr Seuss theme so I decorated my classroom door accordingly.
n one of the library areas in my room I gathered all the Dr Seuss books from our school library and placed them on the shelves. It is also an area where we celebrate our learning with that cute Cat In the Hat book stand I created. I used the Lightbox and some of the letters and icons in the Mega Lightbox packs to add an additional message and motivation for my students.
I layered those cute glasses over the smilie emoji icon and slid it into my lightbox. It adds to the theme of school but also a touch of fun to my lightbox as well.
My lightbox sits next to my Cat In the Hat stand I created to help motivate my students.
The stand holds outstanding work from a student each day!
I have some of my older 8 inch letters on another shelf near some personalized baskets that hold readers for each student.
Near my teaching chair I have some motivational items again with a Dr Seuss theme.
This time I used the Mini letterbox to spell out one of Dr Seuss’s famous quotes. I tend to change these out weekly so my students always look forward to Monday mornings and reading what my Mini says. The “today’s the Day’ background and comes in a set that includes the Mini Lightbox and several phrase backgrounds.
Let me share a quick peek at my teaching chair and easel where I do most of my teaching from.
Over the last holidays I spent some time painting up an old chair at home to create a Dr Seuss chair. I covered the cushion with fabric and then found some colorful kiddie gym boots to serve as shoes for my chair. I must say it is one of my favorite pieces in my classroom.
Finally hanging on my whiteboard I have my Lightbox DIY Banner sign that you can add your Mini Lightbox letters and phrases into. For some extra pop of color I trimmed some colored cardstock the same width as the shelf piece on the Banner sign and adhered it with glue. It really makes a cute impact in my room. I use it for our weekly goal and or motto to work towards.
I love these fun interchangeable elements in my classroom. They are so quick and easy to customize with a phrase, positive reinforcement or quote needed for any classroom theme!
