be quiet!

be quiet!

It’s quiet again in my house.
I am loving the silence. Needing the silence.
It’s causing me to think about silence…
I am not your typical silent-lover traditionally! Usually, if you get in the car after I have gone somewhere alone, the stereo is cranked.  And if I am not listening to LOUD music…I tend to be blabbing on the phone! Almost like I am afraid sometimes of just being quiet. Well, all that has changed recently, I can’t remember how long ago… but
I have realized what a gift, what a treasure, silent moments are. Maybe because they are very rare for me.
Life is so loud. Inspiration is so silent.
Even if it’s just allowing your mind to scroll your to-do list… or maybe that complex communication between your sub-conscious with your consciousness…and definitely prayer… it can’t really happen with gwen stephani blaring. (of course there is a time for that!)
I think that my life is so crazy… so much going all the time, that I crave peace. I have realized, that it’s something I can choose. I can turn off the TV, my music… even my phone!!
Can’t turn off quincy… lol. So I can’t try for silent time when she’s around! Seriously, she is a talker, laugher, singer… I think I should have the quiet talk with her! Funny.
Anyway, take some quiet time. you can still do stuff! Fold, clean, exercise, work, scrapbook… try it.  you might be trying to tell yourself something.
Listen.  I am loving that right now.

Silence, well except for the dryer, has fallen upon our house. Love “What are you waiting for!” My 6 year old, Jessica loves it and puts some attitude into it as we drive around town. Have a great, peaceful evening.

Quiet ~ ah, yes. I got to experience some of that last night! While the kids were in bed, I put together a dresser for my closet that I just bought at Target. It was so nice, as I didn’t have little tiny hands grabbing at the screws and such, and everything was where it was. And, then there was the silence. Though I have to admit, I missed the giggling & laughing of my two litle girls. But QUIET is most definitely nice at times!! Hope you enjoyed yours!!

Absolutely quiet at my house for this moment, except the hum of my refridge (which is not pink, yet!)…and you are so right. It is a gift. I try to make quiet happen in my life at least a few times a week. It makes me realize how ‘full my heart is’. That I am content with life and sooo blessed. It makes me realize that Heaven is just a blink away, and that one day I will be there. That’s what keeps me pluggin’.
Thanks for the thoughts, and inspiration, as usual, Heidi. =)

    Enjoy your quiet time, Heidi.
Totally understand where you are coming from. Quiet time for me is time to recharge my batteries, especially since both of my dd’s are talkers, LOL! 🙂

I have noticed recently that I turn on the TV or music less and less when I am home alone. I have wondered if it is due to the busy chatter going on in my mind, all the words I am trying to get down on paper, the things to be done, the necessary chaos of life. I am also finding that when I do turn on the music (which I love by the way!) I am choosing the instrumental playlists on the IPOD more often than not. Quiet is cathartic, I’m glad I’m not alone. Enjoy your peace.

I do “quiet” quite often. With 4 boys my house is usually mayhem with additional kids, Xbox 360 and TVs blaring, and the chatter of the kids. Like right now…just got all the boys off to school, and I’m savoring the quiet. In a bit I’ll turn on talk radio or iTunes, though…

Around the holidays, both the office supervisors were out and the plant was shut down. Boy.. I really did my best to enjoy the silence.

It’s still rare to have silence here. I only have 1 in school full time and my two preschoolers have different school hours. But I love at night after they are in bed how I will clean up and how quiet it is. I think sometimes I’m afraid of it because I notice when the kids are gone, I end up either visiting friends or talking on the phone. I have no idea how I’ll do in 2 years when all of mine are in school full time. It’s almost scary.

I’ve been so emotionally spent lately that I live for my quiet time when the kids are at school and I’m home alone. I really enjoy my time….even if it’s just cleaning or folding laundry…reading blogs. Just gives me the peace I need. http://jolenegeorge.blogspot.com/

I crave quiet time! My daughter is also a talker (she’ll be 6 in Feb.) and a singer. She’s very rarely ever quite. I think it’s a girl thing. It’s also genetic. Her daddy can also talk if you get him on the right topic. Enjoy your quiet time.

Awesome post! You really nailed it with the silence thing. This one totally spoke to me. You have so many talents, writing is definately one of them. You need to write a book… it would be a best seller.
    Thanks for the uplifting thought!

So true. There is NOTHING like quiet time. I am turning our extra bedroom into a “quiet place” for me to retreat to. I must have this time or I believe i would go crazy. 🙂 I’ve been getting alot of quiet time recently and I believe it makes me a better mother, better wife, just a better person in general. Okay, obviously I am a talker too. 🙂 I will be quiet now. 😉

Oh, how I love my quiet time. I too have a chatterbox. She’s 9 years old and even continues to talk to you as she’s walking out of the room. Sheeesh! I teach 3rd graders part-time and then come home to a 3rd grader and a 7th grader, so my quiet time is sacred. I’ve made my goal for your Y2R class to remodel my bed/bath and make it a serene place to escape to. Can’t wait to see how it all turns out. Thanks for your quiet thoughts!

Oh, wonderful silence…I cherish the sounds of nature outside! My 4 boys are raised, this year is “empty nest”…and it was time. I love them more than anything, but there comes a time for some peace and quiet…and it’s so nice! After 28 years of raising boys, I deserve my quiet, peaceful place to play…the cats and dog and I are so happy, and the birds outside are living in paradise (we have 19 bird feeders!). I love to watch them and let the silence be golden…life is blessed 🙂

I’ve always loved silence and sometimes spending time with just me 😉 I usually scrap and craft in silence. Except at Christmas. Then it’s Christmas music 24//7. But seriously. Silence is golden.

I love silence, even if I like listening music too!
where I live, it’s very quiet. Only some cows there & there. Fresh air and birds songs.
    It’s what I prefer!

I cherish my quiet times as well. I so look forward to the times when everyone is out of the house but me. No TV, radio, nothing but quiet. LOVE that time!
