chasing the sun

Memories of Summer are flooding into all my social media outlets recently, living in Australia and in the midst of Winter I am definitely dreaming of warmer weather. I decided to warm things up in my scrap studio with some of the new Sun Chaser collection and a favorite photo from our travels to Mykonos from a few years ago.

I decided to enlarge my photo to 8×11 to show how important the photo is. I grabbed the Sun Chaser paper pad and found that cloud pattern paper that was a perfect match for the colors in the photo. I trimmed it to size and then set about embellishing my spread.

I began by choosing some of the ephemera and stickers from the Sun Chaser collection and created a line of pieces down the centre of the pattern paper in a vertical direction. I added the large heart with pop dots to emphasise the heart theme.

I then drew a heart shape with my lead pencil and used my sewing machine to stitch a heart around the elements. I love the subtle touch of texture the stitching creates on my page.

I then used one of the puffy words to layer over my enlarged photo. I added some stickers from the sticker pad to emulate the vertical strip on the opposite side.

I just love the soft pinks, peaches and mint colors in my spread, they really bring out the colors in my summery photo. I can’t wait to scrap more of my Summer photos using the delish Sun Chaser collection.

You can find the Sun Chaser collection at JoAnn stores now.
