Create a Creative Planner
I am really excited to talk about one of my favourite ways to document with you all…and it involves all things planner! And BRAND NEW planners nonetheless. Heidi Swapp just released an entire collection of incredible new beauties perfect for capturing 2017 and beyond in the most stunning way. You can check out the entire release here.
This year my word for 2017 is CREATE. I really want to focus on “creating” many things for me this year, but I also want to make a time and a space for myself to just BE and CREATE. Sometimes you just have to revisit areas in your life for what they are. No expectations, no pressure, no anything. Just enjoy it for what it is. That is why this year I am keeping a creative Memory Planner. A place for me to just let go and be…a space to freely create, be inspired, collect things that speak to me. A place to just create art.
I chose this beloved and amazing Memory Planner kit to serve as my creative Memory Planner for 2017.
I love that it is spiral bound. It is 6×8 size so it provides ample space for journaling, photos, scrapbooking, memorabilia etc. It also is jam packed with SO many beautiful extras…cards, washi, stickers, tabs, clips, a notepad. It really is beautiful. The perfect kit to jump start my 2017 creative journey.
So, would you like a peek inside?
See how I have gotten started? Ok…let’s go!
I have to say that the colours, design and patterns that fill this planner are SO extremely gorgeous. The florals and bright colours just make me so happy and want to create. I love it. This is the January dashboard. Perfect place for a beginning.
If you are familiar with the Heidi Swapp Memory Planners then you will notice a similar opening design. Awesome photo pockets and an inspiring space for notes, photos and more.
I love to use these opening pages to place a monthly photo, a resonating quote, add in some stamping and personal journaling. In order to keep myself accountable and committed I usually do not deviate too far from this plan. If I keep repeating the same basic ‘framework’ on this page each month I find I am more organized, motivated and not wasting time thinking about “what to write”.
The calendar page in this planner will probably serve more as a creative space than an actual calendar, however I probably will still use this space to document and list my creative deadlines and projects. But that’s it.
As you can see I love adding Typecast type detailing into my planner. (In order to type on these pages that are coil bound, I delicately make a horizontal snip next to the hole where the coiling is and gently slip out of the rings. I place it in my Typecast, add my notes and then slip it back into the coils. Easy peasy and hands down one of my favourite techniques ever!)
Using the same technique as mentioned above I will be also adding in a monthly large 6×8 photo. I love a large photo’s impact.
As stated above, most of what I will place in this creative Memory Planner will be quotes and notes that really speak to me and motivate me creatively. A lot of these messages are ones that I have either collected on Pinterest, seen on Facebook or on Instagram. These places can be such amazing sources of creative inspiration.
This next page is super fun. I actually removed the page and printed this quote on it using my laser printer. I then ran it through the MINC machine with gold Champagne foil. Isn’t it awesome? I then added additional type and stamping to it. I really love how this page unfolded.
As you can see, more blank spaces await to be filled.
I am really looking forward to using this Memory Planner for 2017. I think it will really help me on my creative journey this year and I am thankful to have a place where I can document the ride.
Thanks for stopping by! 🙂
