DIY Minc foiled scarf
Hey everyone I am so excited to be here today sharing something fun I have been working on over the Christmas break! You see soon I’m going to be meeting some very special friends wearing a special pair of gold converse shoes and I wanted something to wear with it to coordinate with my shoes!
I decided to sew myself a scarf and add some touches of Gold Minc foil on the ends to add some gold sophistication to my scarf!
Now I am no seamstress, in fact my sewing machine has only ever sewn on scrapbook paper (wink) but I searched YouTube for an easy how to and set to work.
Let me share a quick tutorial with you on how I created my scarf!
Step 1. Gather your supplies- fabric of choice, Minc machine, Gold foil, Minc Reactive paint and a paint brush.
Step 2. Cut two strips of fabric 12 inches wide. (The width of your fabric needs to be no wider than 12 inches as it needs to be fed through the Minc machine).
Step 3. Sew the two ends together to form one long piece of fabric and then follow the instructions on the following video to complete your scarf!
Step 4. Using a wide paintbrush and the Minc Reactive paint apply some of the paint in vertical brushstrokes at the ends of the scarf. I applied mine in staggered lengths for a more relaxed feel. Allow the paint to completely dry.
Step 5. Once the paint is dry cut some of the gold foil to cover the paint. Place the end of the scarf inside a carrier sheet and run it through the Minc. Once the area covered with foil has run through the Minc machine press the reverse button on the back of the machine and bring the carrier sheet back out. Repeat for the other end of the scarf!
Now your scarf is complete and you are ready to wear it!
I’m thinking of making more scarves in different colors and with different colored foil to coordinate with other outfits in my wardrobe!
Thanks for dropping by today! I hope I have inspired you to get out your sewing and Minc machines…If I can do it anyone can!
