diy neon kids decor
I am totally in love with brand new Neon wall words and shapes. I think it is the coolest concept Heidi has come up with and my boys think so too. When I opened my box of Neon both my boys went kinda crazy over some of the words and shapes. My eldest laid claim to the Brave word that can be found at select Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft stores and so I set to work to create him a one of a kind piece of decor for his room.
In conversation I was asking him when he felt brave and as our conversation went on it popped into my head that I could create a reusable decor piece that he could use to remind himself when he at the times perhaps wasn’t feeling so brave.
I grabbed my Neon word, and the blue neon wire, some black paint, paint brush and a metal chalkboard frame I had in my stash.
I gave my brave word 2 coats of the black paint and allowed it to dry. (Be sure to leave the inside track paint free so the neon card can slot easily into the track.)
Once dry I followed the directions on the back of the package to add the neon into the track. I then trimmed the excess neon.
Finally I used some hot glue to adhere the neon word to chalkboard. I taped the excess Neon and the battery pack to the back of the chalkboard frame.
It is now a blank slate ( pardon the pun) waiting for him to add his thoughts.
He couldn’t wait to add his first thoughts.
He took it straight up stairs to his room and hung it on a hook.
At night he turns on the Neon and hopefully thinks about the times he is brave!
Don’t forget you can find the Neon words and accessories at select Joann stores.
