DIY Photo Folio – Gift Idea
making photo folios for gift giving
It’s almost the middle of the month. By now I should have all my packages shipped that need to go to other places around the country to be there by Christmas. The operative word being should. One gift I know that always pleases family far (and near for that matter) are photos. This year I created a Photo Folio to send the grandparents the year’s photos of their grand kids.
I am using the Storyline Chapters Project Pad for all the papers for this folio mini album. You can find that at JoAnn Stores.
Other supplies used to craft this gift mini album are the Art Walk Definition Stickers. The Storyline Tags and Envelopes. The Art Walk Thickers for part of the cover title. And then I used a whole bunch of stickers that are included inside the Project Pad to create all the layers found inside.
Upon opening the cover, I have included one of the vellum envelopes. Inside holds one of the tags in which I will share the ‘instructions’ for how the photos can be taken from the folio. You see, I printed photos in the size that grandma can now just pop into her frames.
Once inside the actual folio, I have what I have deemed this year’s photo of each of my kids. You know, because the grandmas need those photos. And I just have to add, by way of clarification, this first photo of my oldest son is with his fiance. Now that he is no longer home, I am no longer taking his singular portrait. But I gotta say, he only upgraded the photo for himself with his beautiful bride to be. Bonus.
For each of these pages, I created a ‘strap’ from pattern paper. The photo simply slips right into the ‘strap’. It’s not adhered to the page. That way the photo can be removed from the folio and placed in a frame…or…if not, it still has a nice home here in the photo folio.
I did this the same for each of my kid’s photos. I also added several layers of paper die cuts and labels and tabs and words and whatever I found that just made me happy to add to the embellishment cluster. I kept this the same for each page. I am all about repeating patterns. Of course, changing up the embellishments, each page is unique unto itself.

You will never go wrong giving photos for Christmas. You will for SURE never go wrong if you make them pretty wrapped up in beautiful paper and embellishments.
I hope this inspires you to create for your loved ones this Christmas. But hey, if they are all on the naughty list, then make a photo folio for your own self.
