DIY Traveler’s Notebook Foiled Cover
I love Heidi Swapp’s new Minc Journals! If you have been following along in Heidi Swapp Minc class series at Big Picture Classes, the team has been showing how to decorate these journal pages using Heidi Swapp’s new Minc Reactive mediums. The gold, pink, and canvas journal covers are stunning. Just because they are too thick to run through the Minc, doesn’t mean you can’t have stunning foiled covers! I wanted to show you how I decorated my own so you could do the same!
This cross cover was created with my own brush painting! I created a random pattern and then made it into an image to upload to my Silhouette Cameo cutting machine. Let me share how I made it into this fun black foiled cover!
Open this cross image in Silhouette Studio. Download this free Cross file by clicking here and right click to save to your computer. Open it into your Silhouette program. Use Heidi’s tutorial below to change JPEG and PNG files to cutting files in Silhouette Studio.
Cut the crosses from permanent glossy vinyl by Silhouette. After cutting the design from vinyl, watch this video below to learn how to foil the vinyl in the Minc Foil Applicator Machine.
Transfer the foiled vinyl to the Minc journal cover. In the video above I transferred my image to a mug, but the same technique works by transferring it to the journal cover.
Don’t care for the crosses? No problem! You can cut any design out of vinyl! For the cover below, I just used text with white foil instead!
I can’t wait to see what you create on your Minc covers! The possibilities are endless!
