Easter Cards I Magnolia Jane
Hello everyone. Today I am honoured to share some Easter inspiration with you all on what is the eve of Good Friday and Easter weekend.
Magnolia Jane is the brand new paper release from Heidi Swapp and it is ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS. You can find this collection in stores and online. It is also part of the incredible spread of Heidi Swapp products debuting as part of the HS Boutique Collection now available in JoAnn stores. Today I am sharing how I used some of my favourite pieces from the collection to create some festive Easter cards in honour of this beautiful and blessed weekend.
This collection is perfect for SPRING and Easter and all that is wonderful about this season. I had so much fun creating these cards and playing with some super fun techniques, such as floral rolling and using my Silhouette Cameo to cut out that adorable bunny from a piece of Magnolia Jane pattern paper. I became obsessed with floral rolling after taking a class called Spring Decor over at Big Picture Classes taught by Paige Evans. You can find out more about that class here.
I loved layering pieces from the Magnolia Jane Ephemera collection to create my cards, along with typed sentiments using my We R Memory Keepers Typecast.
This 6×6 card is one of my favourites. I absolutely adore this script pattern paper and I added layered washi tape along the side to add a pop of colour. Some simple stamping and an acrylic sentiment helped bring the card together simply and effortlessly.
Now that I have these custom cards complete, I needed to create some envelopes. The We R Memory Keepers Envelope Punch Board is an absolute DREAM tool for anyone who LOVES to create custom cards. With this one little board, one can create every size imaginable to fit all of your custom hand made cards. How awesome right?!? I love that I now have the ability to create envelopes in coordinating colours to match all my cards. If you are familiar with the Envelope Punch Board…PERFECT! You know exactly what I am talking about. However, if you are new to the punch board…here is a quick little photo step out demoing just how EASY it is.
To begin, I chose a piece of coordinating paper from the Magnolia Jane 12×12 Paper Pad.
I then grabbed my punch board.
On the punch board there are 3 headings:
CARD SIZE
This is the first place we will look before we create our envelope. Identifying our card size will then guide us to the next column “PAPER SIZE”:
This is where we will find the corresponding paper size needed and trim our paper according to these guidelines.
NOTE: If for some reason, there is not the size listed for a card you have created you can access this amazing tool on the WE R MEMORY KEEPERS website. It is called the ENVELOPE GENERATOR.
By simply measuring your card width and height, you will know exactly the paper size needed and where to align on your punch guide. Even though this states for use with the 123 Punch Board, it works with the envelope punch board as well.
OK, so once we have our paper trimmed to size, we have to note where we are going to align our paper on our board by the SCORE LINE.
Once we have that identified we can begin to create our custom envelope.
You can see in the image above I have my paper’s left edge aligned to the designated score line. I will make a punch and then using my scoring tool, score my line.
I then will remove my paper, rotate counter clockwise to align my score edge along the score tab.
I will continue the pattern of punch, score, rotate until I have done all sides. Once you are complete your envelope template should look like this.
Fold in your scored edges forming your envelope and adhere edges with adhesive.
Now you have the perfectly sized envelope to fit any of your custom hand made cards-no matter the size!
I hope you have been inspired today to get creating some handmade cards and envelopes in honour of Easter and the arrival of Spring!
Wishing you all a beautiful and blessed Easter weekend XO.
