eric's creation
i am so excited! it arrived…
my ‘rosette’…
about 6 weeks ago, as eric and i were talking about my living room ‘decor’ ideas, we came up with this really cool idea to take up space on this HUGE wall. anything that i would try to put up on the mosterous plant shelf was just immediately dwarfed, and look ridiculous. eric started his own import company beginning of last year and one of the products he is working on is rod iron doors. he has proven to be very good at designing these beautiful, huge doors etc. made out of rod iron. so as we were talking, he sketched out this 6’x6′ rod iron rosette… he drew it and today it arrived! it’s so beautiful and looks SO awesome! it was so fun today for him to hang something that was his vision and became a reality. as a product designer… it’s the coolest thing to have an idea for something and then down the road a bit, have it show up as REALITY! you never know exactly how it’s going to turn out in real life… and occasionally you have the items that are lots better in your head than for real… but this one is so much better in real life than we even thought it would be! i LOVE it!!!

That is so beautiful. You are doing such a great job decorating your house. Pink is my very favorite color, but I don’t think my husband would let me paint our living room pink. However, our’s is a light shade of lavender. lol
I think rod iron is really wrought iron. I dated a guy when I was in high school (a lifetime ago) who made and installed iron railings, but that was spelled wrought. I could very well be wrong, or maybe both are correct.
Any way your house is beautiful. Please continue to share photos with us.

26 October, 2005 at 5:18 pmHey there,
LOVE the rosette. I have similar LARGE spaces in my house too. Another idea for the shelf part is large trunks stacked on top of each other–the top trunk can be opened with greenery coming out and cascading down–both can be purchased at Hobby Lobby and are frequently part of their 1/2 off stuff…if the pink walls don’t work out for Eric you could always paint the bottom portion chocolate brown. Ralph Lauren has great colors my neighbor did it and I was SHOCKED at how BEAUTIFUL I thought it looked. She separated the brown with a white molding trim about 9′ up on the wall and the color above the trim was cream–you would leave it pink. just an idea…

26 October, 2005 at 7:37 pmGreat work with the iron, do you think he would sell you the design and let you turn it into a fuzzy black rub on??? I don’t have large walls:( but I could do a carry on layout with it:)

27 October, 2005 at 8:51 amHeidi,
you lucky, lucky girl, a pink living room, a talented husband and a beautiful iron rosette on the wall, you are very lucky. I am in awe. 🙂
I talk about you and your stuff all the time to my friends and my mother and last night I finally showed her this blog (she didn’t know what a blog was until I showed her last night) and now thinks you are even cooler because your living room is pink.
And I had to tell her that yes, that really is your last name. 🙂
Have a great day!!

27 October, 2005 at 12:18 pmthat looks pretty cool! And yeah, I’m pretty sure it’s wrought iron, not rod or rot iron.
