friday (frustrated)

friday (frustrated)

so, i'll just put it right out there… i am OVER the whole sick kids thing… i am SICK of SICK!! i guess that we are just usually always healthy, so it's CRAZY when i have had a different kid home from school every day, and today eric and cory are home from school and cory is cranking on a fever. i had my turn on Tuesday, and it was MISERABLE… so i do have some empathy! *which is kinda rare actually…  it just looks like sick people in here. i have towels on the couches—and i have not had a chance to focus on my work at all. which- you know.. .my FIRST responsibility is being the MOM. and i try to make sure that i cover those bases first…but i am exceedingly behind in every aspect of my life. and serioulsy, i have no idea how i am going to pull it back together! it's not like i have extra time ever, that i can just use to catch up. i know this is sounding awfully WHINEY… but i am feeling whiney! sheesh. sorry!! maybe this weekend things will ease up a bit. i really want to see 'Alice in Wonderland' in 3D. but i might just have to allocate the funds to a pedicure and and indulge myself a little…my attitude stinks. SO…
i am going upstairs and just going to work in my studio. i have some new products that i have ideas for … and haven't played at all. hopefully that will recharge me, and give me the energy i need to face my familY!
having new little toys to create with is the best!

i thought this would be a good time to put together a couple quick giveaways!! i'll choose winners Sat night…

  • I hope everyone is better soon! We’ve had pneumonia run its course through our house, which was NOT fun. Thankfully, it passes. This weekend, I’m attending a baby shower that the ladies in my ward are throwing for me and my VT partner. πŸ˜‰ We’re both having boys (and it’s not the first for either of us) so it’ll be fun – and not awkward for either of us. You know, sometimes it can feel weird… so I’m really excited to share with someone else and take some of the awkward away. πŸ™‚

  • Can you open a window and get some fresh air? I know, sounds counter productive, but that fresh air really helps. It really is a great pick-me-up. I have 3 chicklets that always trade germs, so when 1 gets sick, I know it will go on down the line.
Hope you all feel better soon, so your mojo can come out of hiding.
This weekend, I will be working on my daughters scrapbook….T-minus 3 months and counting until Open House season. NO pressure there….LOL.

  • Hang in there with all the ailments, Heidi! This weekend I’m going to a decorating class at Pottery Barn. I love to decorate, and it inspires my scrapbooking too! Can’t wait til the GM webcast on Wed, my calendar’s marked! Thanks for the give-away. πŸ™‚

I am sorry that the household is being hit with illness.
Go take your stamps, smell them – feel the paper, get ink on your fingers, feel the ink beneath your stamps as you emboss on some pretty patterned paper, ripping to create some fabulous edging and then top it off with some Tattered Angels….. there, hope that took you away for a bit – feel better and later when i hope you draw my name I hope I am in my jammies cleaning up my scrap area and attacking a new project

I’ll probably be in my jammies too. I’ve had my 12-yr old now at home for 2 WEEKS first with a “plain” cold which then turned into a nasty ear infection. Well, he’s ok now and I plan on fully CREATE this weekend instead of giving him meds and holding him close and playing with him. Actually I don’t mind holding him πŸ™‚ but it’s time for me to PLAY with my papers and mists and stamps and embellies.

OH NO! I’m so sorry to hear about your frustrations. I completely understand! My daughter was sick for what seemed like forever (RSV) and then I got a yucky nasty stomach bug and was pukey for a couple of days (I was even sick on my 28th birthday). I hope that your house feels better soon, and I’m sending some “feel better vibes” your way!!
This weekend is going to be a busy one for me. We are FINALLY celebrating my birthday (mine was the 8th, and my mom’s was the 9th) so we are going to the Melting Pot in downtown OKC. Saturday morning we are waking up bright and early to take my 3 1/2 year old to Sesame Street Live! After that, I am heading to the mall to exchange a couple of things, then to Grandmas that night for the birthday festivities to continue. Sunday I am hoping for some relaxation and to maybe work in my flowerbeds and paint the pillar on my house. Maybe even squeeze some scrapbooking in, too!!
Here are a couple of funny things to make you smile and brighten your day.
*My 3 year old says the funniest things. My mom was driving her to school and Zoie was being antsy. Mom tells her, “Zoie, hold your horses!” Zoie’s response–I can’t MiMi, they must have already ran away!
*While trying on clothes, I tell my daughter that she couldn’t fit in her 2T’s anymore. She says, “WHAT?!” I told her she was getting big and they didn’t fit. Her response–Yeah, I think you should sell my clothes to a lady who has a two year old. I’m a woman now. πŸ™‚
*My sister tells my mom to figure out what she would like for D-E-S-S-E-R-T for her birthday (she spelled it out). My daughter turns to her and says, “It’s called dessert, Brittany.” Miss Smarty Pants!!! lol
*Zoie says to my pomeranian, Lola– “Lola, when I was your age, I was a dog too. And I was a good dog, just like you. Now give me a kiss.”
*On the way to taking Zoie to my mom’s one morning, she says, “We DOOOONN’T eat boogers. Just Ham-boogers.”
While trying to get Zoie to do something, I say, “Zoie! Listen to me! I shouldn’t have to tell you 5 times to do something!” Zoie replies, “No mom, six times.”
*So dogs have big huge ramungous tongues. –Zoie
*You know your daughter watches too many info-mercials during Qubo when she tells you this morning while you are fixing her hair: “Mom, you need 3 things.” Me: “What 3 things, Zoie?” Z: “Wonder hangers, the perfect brownie pan, and an Instyler to fix my hair.”
*And one of my favorite Zoie-isms: “Girls eat ketchup and boys eat mustard.”
Hope you have a better day! πŸ™‚

But less about me, and more about you…..creating is JUST what you need…my daughter was having an off day yesterday and on our way to figure skating practice I said to her, “do what you love…get on that ice and skate like you’ve never skated before. Doing what makes you the happiest will make you forget all the crummy stuff that has happened and for that hour your heart will be full again.” So….put your worries on the shelf, do what you love and for those few hours you get, your heart will be full too.

My sister had great advice when her brood was sick .. invest in paper towels… use them instead of regular towels (Not as much laundry) use them to dry hands and other such things. Have them in every room… I know not as good for the environment .. but better for your sanity!
And because you wanted to cheer up:
One day, up in the frozen north a polar bear and his son were out for a stroll. Daddy bear sat on a lump of ice to admire the view and sent his son off to play. Two minutes later Junior came back to dad and says, “Can I ask you a question dad?”
    “Sure, son what is it?”
“Am I a real polar bear, Dad?” asks Junior.
Dad smiles and says, “Of course you are, son. Now go and play.”
So off Junior goes again throws some snowballs at the seals but soon he’s back.
“Hey Dad, are you sure I am a real polar bear? Is there not a wee bit of brown bear or black bear in me?”
Dad smiles again and says, “Look son you’ve got big hairy black feet, a white coat, and a black shiny nose…of course you’re a polar bear….now go back and play.”
Once again Junior runs off…slides down the ice….chases a couple of seagulls…after ten minutes of fun he returns with a puzzled look on his face…..
“Daaaad….are you absolutely sure I’m a polar bear?”
“Look son…I’m a polar bear, your mums a polar bear, your granny and grandpa were polar bears…why are you asking all these questions?”
Junior looks up and says….”Cause I’m freaking freezing! ”

  • Well, I’m coping with a tough cough for 6 weeks now.. and no end in sight. So hope you and your family’s getting better soon! As it’s snowing here once more just ignore the weather and imagine yourself a blooming springy landscape πŸ™‚ That should help for a while πŸ˜‰

Hope the family gets better soon. Turn on a movie and just cuddle with them for a while. I miss my babies being babies. My babies are now 18 & 19 and cuddling is way out of the question for them. My 18 year old was sick recently and asked me to sit and cuddle with him… I will never forget that. As much as I don’t like them being sick, if it were to mean that I get to cuddle with them I would wish for them to at least have the sniffles once a week. πŸ™‚

We have been packing for a month, but are getting ready to send 1/2 of furniture to Colorado until we get there. You might have more fun that I will be having?

Oh my dear, that doesn’t sound like fun at all! But i’m right there with you in the sickbay compartiment! I’ve been ill since September! And this might cheer you up: know what’s cheering me up? Your web shows! They are a real treat for me after my (now weekly) yucky treatments! I love to make the projects you’re showing and i’m so inspired by the lovely HOF3 products! Does that help improve your mood, knowing how much your creativity and work is appreciated? Hope so!!!
I’m hopefully going to finish my take on the Birthday envelop album this weekend! Take care, and i wish your family all the best! May they recover soon!

Sheesh is right, where is the respite?! Just remember that this too will pass and you will get reenergized somehow. Sometimes we all need to give ourselves a break! Hope you can!

Healthy air blowing your way, a little prayer too, that your illnesses will pass. My worst memory of illness was many years ago, when my oldest son had the flu and then I got it too. My loving hubby was out of town working and my parents were wintering in Arizona. Alone and sick with a three yr. old, it was hard but I managed. Today I am sharing the love with a card workshop at “Girls Day Out” sponsored by our local high school. It is an event where adults come to share their passion with the high school girls, it is a motivational and educational day for our girls! This is the second year I have participated and I really enjoy sharing the love of papercrafting with them! Try and have a great weekend and love the babies up while you still have them all around, they grow up too quick!

I’ve just recovered from a bug myself, bleh! It’s the annual bookweek here in the Netherlands. Yesterday my mum and I went bookshopping (I dread shopping for clothes and such but I LOVE shopping for books, craftsupplies and gifts!). When you spend a certain amount on books you get a free book with your purchase which can be read AND used as a free trainticket tomorrow. So we’ll be going to Utrecht tomorrow and visit a museum!
I hope your whole family will be healthy again soon!

Okay, I can’t believe I’m about to spill the beans but I need a little lift.
My sweet little neighbor girl gave my daughter head lice (yuck) which in turn she gave it to her brother and two sister one being 16 months (fun)(not). A salon bill of $560 to get rid of it, 20 loads of laundry (not joking), 10 garbage bags full of pillows and stuffed animals in the garage, 4 itchy kids one whiny husband and one stressed momma. On the positive note spring cleaning has been in full effect at my house, now we just need the spring weather. I’ve had to look on the bright side it could be worse
Here’s to hopefully, a better tommorrow!!!

  • Heidi,I hope all is well at home. You are amazing you will catch up! Take care.

O.K..you want to whine..two wks. ago I moved household after 10yrs. I was so sick I couldn’t even lift a box. I’d work for twenty mins. and be on the couch for 40. I had NO strength and so much stuff I still don’t know where to put it all. Well, now after being away for a few days I return home only to find I’ve had a visit from the field mice (its cold, so they decided to come in). I have mouse poop in all my kitchen drawers, everything must go in the dishwasher. My bureau drawers..ALL of them..they tried to nest in them…so I’m STILL washing clothes. YUCK!! I’ll take your sick family anyday. πŸ™‚

  • Well, my child had Saturday school today…due to all the winter weather we have been having. Not liking getting up early on the weekend. LOL It’s 4:15 and I’m STILL in my p.j.’s!! LOL Scrapped some this morning and just waiting to get in the shower to go to dinner. I LOVE staying in my pj’s ALL DAY!!! Have a great weekend!!!!

those kits are great! thank you for showing your fav new kits i’m always looking for monthly kits to look into. well last night we had a great big get together with a bunch of our friends and just had a great dinner and hang out! it was so nice to be able to get together with all our friends, it doesn’t happen often because all the babies, but when it does its great! hope you can get some alone time, i always like to walk around the local craft or scrapbook store when i need a break, its so relaxing!

  • I totally feel your frusteration! I’ve been dealing with the same thing in my home. I hardly ever get sick even when my kids do and for some strange reason, we’ve been sick on and off since Christmas. Everytime one of my “FAB4” it goes down the line…1,2,3,4 and then hits my hubby and I. And these ICKY bugs aren’t like the ones we used to get when I was younger adn would be gone anywhere from 3-7 days. These new little BUGGERS are lingering for 2-3 weeks at a time. It STINKS! Two weeks ago I was in the ER with my 14 month old daughter because she had severe cold symptoms and it seemed as though she was having a hard time catching her breath. Turns out that she had pneumonia. Thank goodness I took her in when I did! The doctor said that we caught it in time and all she would need is antibiotics and no nebulizer. This was her second bout with pneumonia too, her first was when she was 2 months old. Not a fun time let me tell you! Anyhow, my hurrendous cold is finally on the mend and things are looking up again. I can’t wait until my kiddos are close to 100% so I can resume my creative process and get back on track. God Bless You and your family…I hope things get back to normal in your home and your family gets healthy so you can do your thing! Hugs πŸ˜‰

  • Being sick and caring for sick family is the pits, but if you look at the silver lining…at least it is everyone at once and not a week in between. I know re-reading that does not even make it sound good. Better days are ahead and you will magically make up for your lost time, granted it may be while everyone else is sleeping, but it will happen. Take care, and hope everyone is better soon, very soon!

Bummed for you about the sickness! I only have 3 children, but when everyone is sick, it is yucky! The best part about being sick is when everyone gets well–it’s like the joy of feeling good makes you sooo happy and energized, and sometimes gives you a different outlook for a bit.

Ostrich Festival is this weekend so we are planning to go tomorrow. Want to try an Ostrich Burger?? I heard they are selling those this year. You can watch them running around and then you can go eat one, lol. Come on, how could you not smile at something so ridiculous as those birds and people trying to ride them? Google it for a laugh!!!
Here’s another funny story–after making excuses why i could not do jury duty for 30 yrs, i decided to answer summons this yr. I was chosen for a long-term 7+ week trial and one of the jurors was ill…coughing all over the place(Swine Flu?). Not only did all the jurors get sick in that confined jury room, but the judge was sniffling, one of the lawyers was blowing her nose and the court reporter had to miss a few days from being sick. It was upper respiratory and took weeks to get rid of and this is the adult world!
Sons are a heritage from the Lord, children a reward from Him. (Psalm 127) You are blessed.
Here is my prayer for you:
“May today be peace within. May you trust your highest power you are exactly where you were meant to be. Allow your soul the freedom to sing, dance, praise and love.” Mother Teresa

I just want to add (for you) it is so good that you are home with your kids. My husband had to be quarantined by the school nurse at his boarding school whenever he was sick. With no TLC from his mother or father he has something lacking deep inside now.
You are doing a very important job–the most important job. Smile.

When my kids are sick like that you forget what they are really like. They are so crabby and sluggish for so long but they are truly resilient and do bounce back relativly fast

  • Here is a GREAT B I G HUG all the way from Texas just for you Heidi! As a mom, believe me, I can totally relate to how you were feeling. But some how, things always seem to work out and things get back to normal eventually. Hang in there…just remember what Scarlet said “tomorrow is another day !”
Oh and I so <3 Scarlet Lime but can't afford to buy the kits right now so winning one would really make my day πŸ™‚

  • i was just watching PBS and the Ed Sullivan special and thought of this song (and my facebook status)……
You know you make me want to(SHOUT)Kick my heals up and(SHOUT) Throw my hands up and(SHOUT)Throw my head back and(SHOUT)Come on now(SHOUT)
can’t you just hear the music? that song is enough to get anyone out of the blues! or at least get your toes tapping!
    hope everyone feels better soon.

  • We just got home from a driving tour searching for dinosaurs. Our son is learning about them at school so we thought we would take him to a few museums and the zoo for some real life exhibits. He loved it and it was invigorating to get out of town. Hope your family feels better soon Heidi! Best wishes…
