friday catch up

friday catch up

I have this thing… about getting a head start on myself.
Let me explain… if I have decided what I want to accomplish, or need to accomplish in a day… like tomorrow… I like to spend the night before getting a head start, verses relaxing, or finishing up other unfinished business. I like the feeling of being ahead of the game. It’s all mental, right?
I have decided that tomorrow is my “catch-up” day.
By that I mean that I have a bunch of  unfinished business that as a result of the teething baby, I have not been able to complete!
Stuff like:
Grocery shopping
Putting away the last 12 items of clean clothes sitting on the guest room bed
Paying bills online
Mailing my tax stuff to my dad/accountant
Cleaning my nightmarish studio
Straightening my shoes
Washing my sheets
Purging the fridge of nasty things in Tupperware containers
Weeding out unnecessary items on the various bulletin boards
Filling my car with gas (and taking the time to allow it to FILL all the way!)
Listening to my voicemail (UGH)
Shaving my legs.

So tonight…I am going to clean my studio. I am giving myself until midnight. But, you see… it’s really on the list for tomorrow… so when I wake up I will already be miles ahead!!! Somehow, that motivates me…
I have promised the kids I would make them omelets for breakfast… so I better set an alarm… and just maybe, I won’t climb back in bed when they leave out the door to school… and maybe… I will shower before 2pm and maybe… I will shave my legs!

that sounds like a real plan.
    I usually don’t make plans i just go with the flow (~maybe that’s why i don’t get anything done~)

Shaved legs…it’s like making a statement that yes, I did have that little bit of extra time for myself today in the shower!
Hope you accomplish what you need to and if it doesn’t get done, you can always make a list for Saturday. Have a great weekend!

i’m on the same wavelength as you Heidi!! I don’t always make lists but I try to get a few extras in the day before making the next morning feel like I’ve accomplished something w/o even getting out of bed!!! 🙂 Love your blog Heidi! I rarely comment but just so you know…us Canadian scrapbookers love you!!!

Gosh!..sounds exactly like my list..so weird..even taking time to fill the gas tank “all the way”..too funny. I only have {3} children..15,9 & 6.5 months..and plan to have more..I was so jealous when I heard that you were pregant again..but our plans are to wait until little Mattie is 1.5
    Only 1 more year!

Sounds like a perfect theory and plan!
Hope you have a productive day.
Friday is always my catch up day and washing sheets and cleaning bathrooms ~ gotta break it all down so it all gets done especially with boys 12,11,10 and 42 yrs. old.
    God Bless

Ah yes – you have my disease – Productivity Addict. I’m not ashamed to admit it and you shouldn’t be either. My husband says I can get more done in 24 hours than most in 2 weeks – that is such a HUGE compliment. Here’s to checking stuff of that list! Love it!!!

How funny. I always make those mental lists in my head the night before. I really think I’m going to get lots done the next day. Tomorrow comes and all I do is make a bigger mess in my scrap room by scrapping all day!

LOL! I am sitting here in my clean scrap room because it is the only thing on my list that is done. My legs are hairy, the kids are having an all morning tv-a-thon, which we try not to do too often, and the list is miles long! Good luck today!

Hmmmm…Productivity Addict…I wonder what the opposite of that is??? Total BUM??? LOL I think that’s where I am…It’s great to hear that you can accomplish so much so quickly. I used to do that, but now the arthritis is preventing it…maybe after the knee replacements!! One can hope!

Can I just say how much it makes my day to see that you posted an e-mail yet AGAIN this week. Love it when you do that. And love that even though you are “Heidi Swapp” you have the same everyday struggles us moms have. You rock! And the fact your are pregnant again makes you even cooler because you seem to have it all together. Hang in there. Just know that the little bits of your life you share with us strangers sometimes is what helps us make it through the crazy days of mommyhood.

I could NOT imagine having my 5th child on the way along with a teething baby… and omelet eating munchkins. I have 4 kids (18, 13, 7, 4) and the thought of adding another to the mix just does NOT compute. I give you all the credit in the world. Being the superstar you are!!! you have stamina that I can not compete with. You motivate me way more than you will EVER now.
    Hats off to you.

Glad to know I’m not the only one that has yucky tupperware containers of food that should have been thrown out weeks ago – and that I’m not the only one that doesn’t shave her legs enough.

I think that is why I like reading your blog, I am very similar as far as efficieny ideas go. Glad that you brought to my attention that I could actually save time AND money by only filling up my gas tank part way. 🙂

Hey, great minds think alike! I am a total list-maker … and I, like you, think of getting those “head starts” to the next day whenever I can. Here’s hoping you get it all accomplished … and that you even find time to shave the legs. What a luxury, huh? 🙂 (Speaking from a busy mom of three boys who knows that clean shaven legs are definitely a LUXURY!)

At first I was going to say your mind games with yourself seems just a little crazy… but then I remembered when I do, rarely, make a list — I put things on it that I have already done so I can check them off. Okay, mind games with ourselves is normal?!

I totally love your blog. Its ‘realness’ always makes me laugh. It sound like a day in my life and it helps to know I am not the only one who doesnt fill my tank up cos it takes tooooo long!!! I absolutely get your ‘get ahead for the next day’ mind trick. I play a similar version…..Ciao xx

Had to chuckle about the nasty things in tupperware containers. DH hates my policy but every Sunday evening everything in the fridge gets purged, doesn’t matter if it’s from Saturday night or the previous Sunday, it’s the only way I can stay on top of it!
Now for legs, I attack them in sections, 4 days, 4 sections, bottom half (Great for Capri days) Knees, thigh and than upper leg, bikini area. ALright my legs are never perfectly shaved but it keeps me ahead, it’s all mental right!

This is such helpful advice. Thanks 4 sharing! I have wondered for some time how you “it girls” do it. Any little glimpse into the hows and whys is greatly appreciated. I am a Mom who chose to set aside my personal goals for the welfare of my children and husband. Somehow lost myself over time. LUV your reminders…also, I’ve adopted the “Only Shave Your Legs Before Major Holidays” Attitude. Of course that doesn’t work too well in AZ in summer. I wonder if they have a GWorld Record for longest leg hairs–think mine R 2-inches now. LOL Good Luck on your list…I’m not getting anything done reading your blog! See ya. Thx again.

Holey moley, that’s quite a to-do list. If I could get that much accomplished in one day I’d be so thrilled. How do you do it?! I so admire people who can get so much accomplished, and I want to know the secret (besides getting a head start the previous day :-))

Every time you’re intellectual about getting a new fun stuff, people generally like to research their purchase by stand the pace various options, comparing features, and reading appraisal in order to find something that cup tie their needs. An imperative part of this process is reading reviews by end users of the products to get a feeling for what their know-how has been in terms of ease of use, the results they are getting, and other factors. sentiments tend to vary widely but those reviews are commonly a good barometer as to how the product is being received. You can see some tremendous product reviews at http://www.SupremeSpecials.com by clicking on “Product Reviews.” There are third party reviews on a roomy kind of product categories. The great thing about third party reviews is they tend to be unprejudiced and give you direct insight into the pros and cons of the different route.
