I love Mondays… seriously.
I really took the weekend off.  I think I hit the wall. I don’t think I have been that unproductive in months. Felt great. I just kept sleeping, napping, relaxing, sitting…
I mean, there were a few little shining moments. I re0rganized 3 or 4 drawers in my scrapbook room. But now the whole thing is just a big disaster. Way worse than when I started. Sigh.
Anyway… Capri is 6 weeks today. (I can’t believe it)
And once 6 weeks comes…excuses go! Time to exercise again. I am not one of those people who despise exercise. I love it. I consider it an opportunity- and a gift to myself.
So I went running this morning after the kids left for school. Quincy started all-day-k today! She is so excited! (I am so excited).  I am not really fitting into my running clothes which is- I guess just more motivation. The temp was perfect…it’s cooling off. It was probably mid-80’s. I ran my “old” short day. (seemed really far this morning!). I decided that I could walk the uphill and run the down, since really I need to re-condition my joints, and my lungs.  Despite the fact I was totally ‘draggin’cheek’ this morning…I couldn’t believe how great it felt. How it allows my mind to jump around and think, and conjure. I have missed that so much. when I run I can totally check out of my body and just think.
I have a goal. I am totally a goal kind of girl. I like to visualize myself doing what it is I want to do. that helps me accomplish stuff.  So, since about JUNE, when eric completed his first marathon…I decided that next year, I want to be doing that. Today was my first training day.  and I am officially training for the SLC marathon June 2nd.  I am from SLC, and the marathon is a Saturday. Katie, Heather… you guys still in? STACY?? How about you!? wink wink… maybe this will help me with that choc. Chip cookie problem! You will be proud of me, I really wanted cookies yesterday, and I took a nap instead of making them! I figure if I do good this week, I can make cookies next Sunday. I am going to search for a good online training program this week…
This is why I love Mondays… love a new start. (And loving getting my house cleaned!)

    Good luck with the SLS marathon training. I can’t run the length of my street, so I’m proud of you for making that goal. I am a goal/check list kind of girl too so I understand your mindset.     Heidi, you are an animal! I don’t know how you do it all. My brother & sister-in-law ran the SLC Marathon last year and are doing it again next year. I’ll look for you at the finish line too!

    you are so inspirational! i’m due in 2 months… and you inspire me to get in shape after the baby comes. i’m moving to slc this summer…there’s no way i could do a marathon tho… maybe a half! thanks for the inspiration. seriously. i need it!

    Hey! Good for you! I ran a marathon and after my next baby I will run another one. Check out The Non-runners Marathon Guide! It rocked! Very realistic for regular people! Its written by a marathon runner and a phsycologist. Good luck!!

    Way to go for setting such a goal. You are ‘Superwoman’. There is a fabulous book for marathon training. It’s called Marathon Training – by Joe Henderson and it shares all the information that anyone would need to train and run a marathon. It’s got a 100 day training program in it as well. You should check it out.

    Gosh. I’m sitting here wondering if that inspires me or it makes me look like a bum? I’ll have to think about that. I’ve been riding bike as much as I can…but am looking for something new since my Michigan weather has turned colder and wetter the last couple of weeks. I’m trying not to make excuses- so I guess it’s time for a new sport…rather than just sitting. I too, loved the time to think and collect myself and I feel sooo good after a little ‘me time’- good luck with the marathon thing. And enjoy your growing kids. Time really does move so quickly, doesn’t it?!

    Heidi, I went to Creative Escape and it was everthing and more then I expected. I have already reserved my room so I really hope I am able to get on the internet to sign up the everything else. I am sure it will be a crowd.
    I tried to down load the secret classes, specially My Mind’s Eye with Jennifer Child. She gave us her email too but I cannot find either one. I would like to finish my project. Could you help me to find it?

    I love that fresh start feeling too. Unfortunately I’m way better at starting than I am at following through. It’s become a real trap for me to be so excited about making plans, but not excited about the actual execution of said plans.

    Love that you are “publicly committing” yourself to a marathon. I just *have* to pass on a gem that someone passed on to me- you must read the book “Non-Runner’s Marathon Trainer”. It lays out a perfectly simple, perfectly doable running program. Not only that, but it gives you GREAT advice on attitude/motivation to get out there and run. Good luck!

    I’m finding myself setting goals and reaching them and it feels GREAT! In fact, just this last saturday I ran my first 5K and took 1st in my age group! Keep up the good work, before you know it you’ll be back into the pre-pregancy clothes too!

    fetch heidi, way to put the pressure on. Unfortunatly, the truth is… I need some motivation. It’s getting cold in SLC and my fall clothes are well… not so fitting. And I was peer pressured into making cookies yesterday by cameron, collin and clark. They were going to beat me up if I didn’t!!!! So I guess that means I’m in!

    I am totally amazed! I don’t see where you get all your energy to do what you do. You are simply amazing and very inspirational. I just started working out. I walk and swim. Have lost 10lbs. I need to lose 40 more. I thought about running again. I was a runner in high school and college. I live in florida, so excuses are very easy for me. TOO HOT and HUMID! We all are routing for you. We know you will do great at this event. We might just be in the crowd cheering you on. YOU GO GIRL!!!

    Way cool, Heidi, I am so happy to hear that you are in “official training” for a marathon. I have been training for the Rock ‘n Roll marathon in January 2007 in Phoenix for the last 7 weeks and totally love the feeling of accomplishment. I just ran 11 miles Saturday morning which is something I never thought I would actually be able to say let alone do! I, like you, have to imagine myself doing something and then it sticks. I have actually seen myself cross the finish line with my hands up in the air, a huge smile, and tears of joy and exhaustion streaming down my face. You might want to check our runnermom.com. Stacy had told me about her book and she has a good newsletter that she sends out monthly with great advice for moms who run. Good luck!

    Heidi, you have once again inspired me. This time not by being creative, but making time for something I use to love, running. That’s how I met my wonderful husband. Now with commuting 3 hours into DC, I had hung up my running shoes. Too tired at the end of a grueling day to venture out running. But I do miss it so much. It would be just what I need to jump start my metabolism to start losing weigh. Plus, I need something mentally to help me deal with work stress.

    I will second the The Non-runners Marathon Guide. It got me through two races. It is very motivational and very good for the “mortal” runner. Good luck with the training!
