Great Idea for a Big and Beautiful Graduation Card
tis’ the season for grads, and weddings, and birthdays, oh my!
Having had several graduation invitations hit my mailbox lately I found the need to make cards! But who needs an excuse? Clearly there is always a reason to have a card handy and ready to go. But I took this occasion to craft a larger than normal size card with the new (ish) Care Free Paper Line.
From the Care Free Collection I chose to use the 12×12 Pattern Paper Pad. This was my go-to source for all the paper patterns I chose for this card. A practical reason to ever have a 12×12 pad of pattern paper in your arsenal is due to the selection of papers. Having all those patterns in one place makes it super easy to pick and choose, especially for a card project that includes envelope, card, plus interactive card pieces INSIDE the card.
The above image shows the envelope I made using vellum and pattern paper from the paper pad. I was inspired by Heidi’s Surprise Inside Card class. The envelope starts out with a version of that envelope in the class, but then I changed it all up inside.
Inside there is the card that is shown in the above image on the right. The patterns beautifully go together to create a cohesive look, not to mention a grown up sort of card for a college graduate. I’m swooning over the pink triangle on black next to that soft floral pastel.
Inside the main card is a tri-fold card I made with a 12-inch piece of paper. Then when that is open there is a card that holds the gift card for said graduate. That gift card is held inside the ‘keep going’ portion of the card. Personally, I love to make the card the gift. With gorgeous papers found in the Care Free Collection, it’s just super easy to craft all these interactive pieces together and know that they GO together.
When you come right down to it, all these surfaces are just perfect ways to add plenty of sentiment to this graduation greeting. Graduating high school or college is a big deal. To meet this big deal craft cards that have plenty of sentiment and offer the graduate something to think about as they open all the flaps.
I hope this article inspires you to make interesting gift type cards for that grad or bride or birthday girl.
