Halloween Decor | Sugar Skull Marquee
HAPPY OCTOBER!
I just love autumn…it’s my very favorite season.
The colors, the smells, the crisp air…it’s all just so perfect.
I spent a little time this past weekend finishing my front porch decorations…and I’m so excited to share them with you!
I picked up a few containers of mums and some pumpkins and then I got to work on my front door.
Here’s what I started with…
The new Marquee Love Sugar Skull is seriously the cutest EVER. It is available at Michaels stores and comes with everything you see here (plus 2 more flowers and a strand of lights)!
And a Grapevine wreath and some little red & orange faux flowers I found after digging around in my basement.
The little yellow flowers that come in the Sugar Skull package are adorable…but the color just wasn’t going to work for my project. So I decided to spray them with some Color Shine to darken them up a bit. I thought the mist would turn my flowers black – which is what I wanted to give my wreath a little more “Halloween-y” look…
…but it didn’t.
They ended up this gorgeous shade of green that I think I like even more! This would definitely work a little better for me than the yellow…and the color coordinates so well with the green in the Marquee!
Happy accidents.
Next I used wire snips to cut apart the individual branches of my flower bunch.
Then, I tucked each little branch into my wreath.
I found a light strand from a Marquee Love shape I wasn’t currently using and placed the orange bulb caps (sold separately at Michaels) over each light…
…and then I placed my light strand around my wreath.
Using hot glue, I attached the Sugar Skull flowers to my wreath…(I ended up using only 2 of the 3 now-green flowers)…
And finally, I hung my Sugar Skull Marquee in the middle of the wreath on my front door.
I LOVE IT!!!
Doesn’t he look so good?
And I can just take the skull out of the center after Halloween and my wreath will be perfect through Thanksgiving!
I can’t wait to see what it looks like after dark!
Thank you so much for taking a peek at my outside fall decorations!
I hope I’ve inspired you to put a little light into your holiday decorating…
