I’d like to introduce to you, one of my blog sponsors: Dixie

Last month they sent me their fabulous JULY kit (you can see it there), and gave me
a chance to guest design for them… I totally love getting a fresh new kit in
the mail, and I LOVE especially not really knowing what is inside.. I love the
surprise! I think that it’s so great to have someone put together the colors
and embellishments—it’s almost like a little challenge! There are, of course,
no rules.. you don’t HAVE to create anything in particular… you can combine it
with things you already have… for me, it’s just an ivitation AND an excuse
(sometimes I need both) to create! I had fun. I have really been trying to get
Scrapbook pages done this summer. I have not been creating pages as
consistently as I have in the past. I have realized that the simple pages, with
the little snip-its and stories are what I LOVE about looking back through my

Here is a look at the pages I created using this kit.. I still
have stuff left over.. and I have one page that is still on the drawing board
but it “needs something”… and you can see what other talented designers have done w/ this kit HERE

as i mentioned… i love to tell the obscure stories… not sure if you can read, but i had promised the kids they could pick something out at Target- there was bribery involved- i am ashamed to admit it… anyway- Capri always chooses clothes. i think that is weird. when i was little i'd want a toy for sure!

i almost thought this dress form was too cute to use! i didn't want to screw it up! it's just so much fun… but i had to make a cute crepe paper skirt out of it! the kit comes w/ Pinecone Glimmer Mist… but i had to use some of my favorite colors of Glimmer Mist (Sunshine, Tiger lily, Tutti Fruiti)

and i can't tell you how often i use my Tattered Angels Glimmer screen as a template! i love the shape… it's so useful. i used Mustard Seed Distress ink to age the edges. If you don't have Mustard Seed… you need it! its' such a great blender, and POP of color.

i used my handwriting to create the titles (use pencil first) and distressed the corners using my texture stamps from Tattered Angels. i need to do a video on using these… hmm… note to self… anyway.. they are great tools! LOVE THEM!

this is a great photo that i love- taken in a dark movie theater.. and we only took one- but i have been wating to scrapbook the story- this page just seemed to capture it, even though it doesn't really reflect all the cutie elements from the kit… it just worked!  you can see that i used that glimmer screen again.  i added some 7 gypsies love: masking tapes and their 3 tier circle label stamp.

i just added more to the simple background- i always gravitate to a solid background. what can i say?

these photos have been sitting on to of my pile for a long time.. they are so cute, and so fun- and i had tried to use them several times, w/ no luck! i was delighted when this page just flowed together! it almost scrapbooked itself!

here is an upclose of a bunch of the stuff that just came together: paper strips with lace ruffles that i sewed in place and of course, that 7 gypsies tape ..so fun!

the kit came w/ a whole year of month cards similar to this one, so i cut the middle and popped it up using foam tape… then slid in these chipboard wings. these wings are from the Heart Box kit on House of 3. i used the tattered texture stamps to add distress to pretty much everything.

again, i fell back on just using my handwriting for a title… i just haphazardly laid out the mini-photos and added a Tattered Angels/Heidi Swapp crown above one. these are cute!  already at only 9 years old, we are starting to have 'self esteem' issues… and it's crazy, cause she is SO fab, but learning at such a young age to compare herself to others, and what they have and she doesn't. UGH- i wish i could just STOP that! anyway… i hope that through my scrapbooks, i can remind her of how special she is. i think that it's a wonderful way to express ourselves to the people we love.

i have linked the extra products that i have used to Blue Moon Scrapbooking. They are one of my wonderful blog sponsors, and a seriously wonderful online store to deal with! they do a great job of getting cool stuff in stock and are just super dependable! give them a try!
