Holy Week gratitude journal
There are so many good things surrounding us everywhere, it’s just a matter of seeing it, noticing and taking note!
I live in Utah at little higher elevation than the valley, and the buds on our trees are just starting to emerge. I can feel myself drawing strength and comfort from these little indications that despite all the shut downs, cancellations and isolation… nature is marching on with Spring! I have found myself seeking out the good, reminding myself of blessings and striving to focus on gratitude during this unusual time of Covid-19.
To celebrate Holy Week, and put my thoughts into action, I decided to create a GRATITUDE journal specifically for this special time. It’s just a small book, about 6″ tall and 5″ wide. I made the cover from a piece of Storyline Chapters paper … it’s a 6″x12″ piece with 3/4″ folded over on the right side and tacked down with stitches of my sewing machine which provide a flap for the cover to tuck under and hold the journal closed.
Inspired by thoughts of “Palm Sunday”, I added die cut palm leaves from my new die set (I’m obsessed with it, and you can ONLY get it here at Scrapbook.com). The leaves create a fun layered look as I adhere 3 to the front cover, and one to the right flap. To make it easier to lift the flap and open the book, I added a 1″x3″ clear acrylic tab to which I glued between the paper flap and the palm leaf, making it one piece.
Vellum is always a favorite paper to work with, and I manage to find all kinds of ways to incorporate it into my projects. I love the softness it brings. This time I also cut a few palm leaves from vellum for the inside pages. I created a “title page” using vellum and a new We R Memory Keepers toy I just got: the WORD PUNCH BOARD! I think it’s the coolest
The inside pages are simply printed on my home LASER JET printer, so that I could add foiled quotes inside using my new Pink Minc! I have created a zip file of all the pages in case you would like to create one of your own! CLICK HERE to download the quotes and “gratitude” pages. Once I had all the pages and cover ready to go, I simply stapled them together using a long arm stapler like this one.
I have created a little process video of this project that you can view on my IGTV that you can view here or find on my instagram feed @heidiswapp.

The practice of daily gratitude is a known method of improving overall emotional wellness. I wanted to put intentional focus on remembering blessings and appreciating goodness in this 6×4 1/2” booklet that I can keep inside my Storyline Chapters album along with my planner books! I just got the @wermemorykeepers alpha punch #sofun I bound the pages with a long-reach stapler … and these palm dies are now avail at @scrapbookcom 🌿👏🏻👏🏻 thanks for watching!! #heidiswapp #processvideo #makeprettystuff #focusongratitude #diy #holyweek #storylinechapters #hsminc #foilallthethings
Enjoy a blessed, safe, memorable Holy Week and Easter Sunday, knowing that our Heavenly Father loved us enough to send forth His only begotten Son to die for us, and take on all of our suffering of all kinds. We are known to Him, and that often the greatest blessings He sends are through others… and we can participate in His work by being just a little kinder, more patient and supportive to those who are in our care. SENDING LOVE TO YOU FROM ME!! – Heidi
