How NEW Sun Chaser Celebrates Easter

Celebrate the holiday with Sun Chaser

Easter is a very special holiday for me and my family. Not only because of our faith, but also because of the renewal of the season, the gathering of family, and the making of memories that this time marks.

For this year’s Easter Journal I am using the brand new Sun Chaser to create a flip book slash journal for this week of Easter. And while the holiday is almost here, this is an idea that can be used for any reason and any season.

The Sun Chaser Pattern Paper Pad is replete with beautiful patterns. It was hard to choose which patterns to use for the covers as well as the inside journal cover. So many choices! I also have on hand the Washi Tape as well as fabulous Vellum Pocket Tags. This is a beautiful and fresh collection with so many possibilities.

Now to the making: I am going to construct this journal with the front and back covers constructed from envelopes.

To create the Easter Journal Book, I took the WRMK Envelope Punch Board to create an envelope to use as my template. The reason for this was that I wanted to keep the horizontal stripes of the paper just that: horizontal. So instead of using the intended pattern paper in the envelope punch, I made a template so then I could place the template on the paper where I wanted to have the patterns. Tracing the envelope pattern on the paper I then cut that envelope out with scissors. Fussy cutting therapy for the win!
Then I made another envelope, using the template to trace, for the back cover of the Journal.

This is what it looks like when the two envelopes are attached. The 12×12 was a little too small for the full measurement of the envelopes. That is why the points are trimmed down in this image.
Now, journaling pages can slip into the right side of this journal cover. And the left side creates a pocket for tid bits, more journaling, or found ephemera.

To finish the inside I added a hand made tag to the left inside to sort of cover up where the envelope angles were a little off. This won’t be the first time I used a tag to cover up an odd feature on a project. On the right side is the actual journal covered with more Sun Chaser Paper. The very back piece slips right into the back envelope. This makes for a pretty easy and straightforward journal. Plus, if one changes the size of the envelope, there are so many sizes to make for your scrapbook page, flat mail, or even just a little Easter gift to give away.

Hope this inspires you to grab that new Sun Chaser. To make pretty journals. And to celebrate this holiday and every day by making pretty stuff.
