how to celebrate a special galentines day
I have three daughters. They are at these stand out ages. 18. 16. and 14. (oh. and they are all single). Everyday I am intensely aware of these girls and their lives and their fleeting place in my life. They will not be in my home forever.
Valentines is right around the corner. The busyness of life is always and forever hacking away at my life. These realities and this assignment inspired me to create a party for my girls. Me and my girls.
With the help of my baker daughter, a table of sweets and tea and Valentine notes was created. The idea in my heart was to keep it sweet. Pink. and to serve tea. The tea part hearkens back to when these girlies were much littler. They constantly wanted to have tea parties. This time I have one for them.
Allow me to share with you how I used Heidi Swapp products as well as a few other American Crafts brands to make this table simple. Very doable. Yet sweet and elegant.
This time of year here in the Rockies fresh flowers are not necessarily abounding. I am not against using faux blooms to add a feminine touch to any of my tables or photo shoots. To this little bouquet I cut a Happy Valentines Digital Heart Die-Cut. This was cut out on Minc Toner Paper. After I made the cut on the paper it was run through the Minc Machine with Pink Reactive Foil. A little hot glue attached it to a kitchen skewer. This was tucked into the flower vase. This Minc Die Cut adds a subtle bit of glam to the vase and the table over all.
On each plate I placed a few personal paper crafts for each of my girls.
Using the Minc Reactive Paint, a heart was painted on cardstock. The 3×4 card was then run through the Minc Machine with the same color Pink Reactive Foil that was used above with the die cut.
This is a super simple and very hand made way to create a love note. Each of the cards were placed inside a vellum envelope I made using the We R MemoryKeepers Envelope Punch Board. Baker’s Twine wrapped the envelope in a bow. And each of the girls now have a personal note from me for this Galentines Party.
Using the WeRMemoryKeepers Clear Cut Tag Punch, I made little tags that I attached to their tea bags.
This punch is suppose to be used as an anywhere punch. But I loved the size of that little tag so much. Textured cardstock was used to punch out the tag.
Hawthorne Washi Tape was placed on the bottom edge. And then a Hawthorne Foam Letter was Minc’d with Pink Foil and placed on the tag.
Now for the sweets. Sweet Tooth Fairy Cupcake Cups and Pastel Party Sprinkling Mix came into play to make for some beautiful goodies.
These sprinkles are so beautiful and sweet and pink! I loved using these on the cupcakes and cookies.
You are wishing you were invited to the Galentines Party about now, aren’t you?
As part of the center piece, I used a piece of Hawthorne Pattern Paper called Sugarhouse. It too is sweet and pink and helped to fill in with all the white.
Remember always the Lightbox. I love how the Mini Lightbox fits on a table and says all the right sentiments. The pink letters fit in with the vibe of the table and only added to the festivities. It’s a simple way to dress up any party table.
Here’s to Valentines Day. Very often not the day it is all hyped up to be. My theory? Make it what you want. You want to celebrate with your gal-pals? Do just that. Using a few items from the Heidi Swapp Collections can make for a sweet little party for you and your friends. Show them you love them. Make them some tea. A cupcake. And have a fabulous day of it.
