How to Create a Personal Growth Planner to Make 2020 Your Year
Hello everyone and happy 2020!
Even though the new year is days ago, I still feel like this week was the first “official” week of the new year since everything went back into routine this past Monday. Not sure if that is accurate to say, but I like to believe it to be so haha!
That being said I am wanting to talk about my plan for personal wellness for 2020 and how you too can create a fabulous wellness tracking tool like the one I am going to talk about and share today.
Wellness is a topic that is always very important to me. I love that ‘wellness’ incorporates not only just physical wellness, but emotional, mental and spiritual as well. For myself wellness certainly has many different facets and (with each passing year I seem to experience) it could not be more true. I adore personal growth in general, but I love to document it even more.
Each year I seem to always document my personal growth and wellness journey differently. Sometimes it is in a traditional planner, other years it has been in more of an art journal. One year was a simple notebook. Personal growth and wellness certainly does not have to be complicated when it comes to documenting it. I know how difficult it can be just to make yourself a priority in life, so there is truly no room for extra work or complication when it comes to documenting and tracking your journey. Ain’t nobody got time for that!
So this year I wanted to share my system with you all. What I am using, why I am using it and why it is fabulous for tracking my personal growth and wellness for 2020.
So first up, this years binder.
You may recognize this as the “Tell Your Story” Memory Planner Storage Binder. Yes, you are correct. It is a beautiful binder 6 ring style that initially is designed to house and store previous Memory Planner pages. However, as I was thinking about my ‘plan’ for personal growth documenting I thought how cool this album would be to track my journey. I love that it is extra wide (so it can store a ton), is binder ring (so there is ample room for an entire year of content) and it is just all around beautiful.
I also love how the cover says “Tell Your Story” because it really is fitting for personal growth and wellness. It is my story to tell, and I am very excited to tell it.
Next up to assist me in creating my personal growth wellness planner is this 6 hole punch.
Because this album only comes as an album it is imperative that I have a tool that enables me to add in all the extra content I will be wanting to add in throughout the year. By extra content I mean calendars, journaling pages, notes, photos…all those things that are part of my 2020 year. This hole punch will make adding in inserts, envelopes, pockets and dashboards so so easy! It is designed to match exactly the format of this binder so no worries about misalignment or mismatched holes. It punches exact to this binder’s design.
One of the first things I needed to add into my planner was a monthly divider page for January. I trimmed a piece of my favourite Color Fresh paper down to 6×8 size and by punching it with the punch I get exact sized 6 holes I need for it to fit in my binder.
These tabs are another “must have” for building my personal growth planner as they come with all the months (plus a few extra tabs) so I can track and divide my year long journey in the most organized way.
Grabbing some of my favourite planner stickers I was able to customize my January divider page.
Another must have for tracking my personal growth and wellness this year are books that can serve as places where I can add in trackers, lists and brainstorm ideas and ways to achieve my goals for 2020.
These Storybook sets are ideal for noting ‘all the things’. The plan for me is that I will be using these to track my fitness progression, my meals and meal planning, brainstorming, books I want to read in 2020 as well as recipes I want to try. I am sure as the year goes on I will be adding to this list and to these notebooks.
Another favourite product I will be using in my planner are these fabulous stamp sets. I love how they make tracking my goals so easy to do, plus the icons are all so visibly cute and super functional!
This fitness stamp set along with the Exercise List book are truly an ideal pairing. Visibly seeing me meet my goals and/or plan ahead to schedule the time I need to in order to achieve them are keys in any type of success. Building consistent habits is what I am striving for this year and little by little we are all capable of great things. If there is one thing I believe in is that little changes add up to big results and I am working on being committed to seeing my healthy habits through all year long.
I love how these books make it super easy to note what you need to and then because they are already punched for you, all I need to do is simply remove from the booklet and place in my binder. No excuses!
Starting new planners and personal growth wellness projects can often be intimidating. However I hope that with the ideas I shared here with you today you are feeling less ‘overwhelmed’ and more excited and inspired to maybe begin your own personal growth planner system (if you have not yet done so already). My sincere words of advice at the end of the day is to honestly just keep it simple. Use what works for you and go with it. Stay open to the journey and where it decided to lead you. My planner may not look how it does now next month, or in six months or as we reach the end of this year. But that is totally OK. The point is to just start where you are and take it day by day. Often personal growth and wellness can intimidate me so much. But for me it is all about bringing new habits to fruition and little by little I am committed to doing at least one thing a day to keep me stay the path. Having this place to write things down and track my progress serve to keep me both motivated and accountable (which is another habit I am working on committing to). I am excited for the days to come!
This is our year! We can do this thing!
