How to Create a Spring Vignette
Even though it may still be near freezing here in Chicagoland, I’ve got major Spring Fever! I’m ready to do all the cleaning, all the rearranging, all the outside work, everything! And, at least for me, Spring brings with it a feeling of renewal & inspiration…so I decided it was time to change up my decor a bit. A quick trip to Michaels and I had all I needed to bring a little new, refreshing color into my home.
After I emptied my bags and ooo’d & ahhh’d at my Michaels haul, I grabbed a couple of Lightboxes…both the original & the mini…and added a little quote.
I love that these boxes and can be used over and over and over for any occasion.
And they really add a modern touch to any decor.
I played around for about an hour or so with how I wanted things set up, and I finally decided on this.
I’m so happy with how it turned out!
I mean, I’m no Jamie Pate when it comes to decorating (seriously, have you seen that girl’s skills???)…but I still love it.
And all I have to do is take out the bunny & chick and this vignette can last through spring!
Here are a few (very simple) things to keep in mind when setting up a vignette like this one.
Vary the heights of the pieces in your vignette, and make sure there are pieces of all different sizes spread throughout your setup.
Include different textures & patterns to add visual interest.
Whenever you possibly can, add a darling little fuzzy pink chick.
OK…so that’s not really a rule, per se, but you may just be happier if you do it.
Take photos of your vignettes as you’re setting them up.
When they say the camera doesn’t lie, they mean it.
I can often find places that need covering or objects that need moving that I’ll recognize in a photo that I may not see just by looking.
Finally…and this goes along with examining a photo of your vignette…
Push things closer together than you may think they should go.
You want your eye to be drawn to the next thing in your arrangement, so make sure none of your gaps are too large.
And there you go!
I hope my display inspires you to grab some fresh decor and decorate, decorate, decorate!
