How to Customize a Journal Studio Journal with Vinyl

Hello sweet friends and happy Friday!

Again, another weekend is closely upon us and I am eager to share a very fun simply DIY that would work as a perfect weekend creative project!

Many of you have seen the gorgeous Heidi Swapp Journal Studio collection and now that it is currently available at select JOANN stores and on JOANN online makes it even more exciting.  Especially with the little technique I am here to share with you all today.

After you see how easy it is to take these journals and customize them you will want to get your hands on them ASAP!

I love how these journals literally serve as a ‘blank canvas’.  There are no set rules, guidelines or plans.  You can totally take these journals  on whatever journey you may wish to.  With that being said, and in the spirit of the season, I thought that creating this journal specifically into a gratitude journal would be more than fitting and a perfect DIY.

To top it all off I have a fabulous digital FREEBIE to share with you all to create your very own customized gratitude journal just like mine.  You can grab it here.

OK, so to begin you will need to download the file onto your computer and import the digital file into your electronic cutting machine software.

Next you will then trace the digital file in the software so that your electronic cutting machine will be able to cut it out.

On your cutting mat apply a sheet of vinyl.  I am using white vinyl but any color vinyl of your choice will work.

It is hard to see in my image below but I have already gone and had my electronic cutting machine cut out the digital word.

Once I have removed the excess vinyl I am going to apply some transfer tape onto the image.  This makes adhering the vinyl design to my project SUPER easy!

Carefully peel the corner over and up to remove the design from the cutting mat so that it sticks on to the transfer tape.

Once that is complete simply apply the design with the transfer tape to the journals cover in whatever orientation you desire.  I chose to have mine run vertical and I really love it!

Gently peel off the transfer tape and voila!

Your Journal Studio is completely customized SO easily!

What a beautiful gratitude journal this is going to be.  I cannot wait to fill it up with lists, photos, inspiration and more.

Be sure to head to JOANN to get your hands on your very own Journal Studio Journal to customize with this fabulous freebie.

Happy Friday friends!
