How to Foil Fall Paper Leaves

If you are like me, it’s the time of year I take a little more attention to the vibe in my home. While I am not an all out decorator of the seasonal kind (this because I am a recovering hoarder of all the craft store seasonal must have decor), I do like to bring the outdoors in.

As I have ebbed and flowed over the years, this process has simplified a bit more for me. I think one reason I actually do pay more attention to details inside my home is because the weather is starting to force me inside more. The leaves and foliage are changing, and quite frankly, unless I am looking at a fresh blanket of snow outside my front studio window, then all is sort of drab and colorless. Thus, bringing some color and interest inside my home where I am spending more time in a necessity. It’s one way I carry my own weather.

You may well already know one way I do this is by refreshing my Lightbox. This original white LightBox and Gold Stand are available at JOANN.  As is the Hand Lettered Font. So fun. You can see how I started the month of October right HERE with this little vignette. And here today I have changed up the sentiment again. Plus added some papery touches to my front entrance table to help celebrate the season.

Taking the Color Fresh Paper Pad, I used my Silhouette Machine to cut out leaf shapes. This is a great way to use up scraps. My leaves are sized to about 4-inches tall and a couple are about 3-inches tall.

You can find that shape HERE. Just pull it into your cut file software, trace to cut. I used the ‘maple’ leaf for this tree’d project.

After I cut out the leaves, I then spritz them with Minc Reactive Mist. Not too much. Just enough for a bit of glam. After the Mist dried really really well, I ran the leaves through the machine using the Gold Glitter Sheets, also available at JOANN.

Oh. My. Gosh. I love that so much. Hmmm…you know what this inspires? It inspires more creative need to make stuff just so I can use this technique again. I love when that happens.

This is just one way to add some papery and seasonal touches to your home. Bring out the Lightbox. Add something fun and fallish. Cut up some colorful leaves. Then Minc and glitter to your hearts content. Enjoy making pretty stuff.
