How To Track Life With a Traveler’s Journal
A traveler’s journal is one of my favorite tools when journaling all the things I can find to journal. As we look down the calendar to a new year in a few month’s time, I came upon several ideas I wanted to make sure I was ready to start the new year with. Using Journal Studio I am tracking areas of my life with just that in mind.
For this edition of my journal adventures, I am using the Polka Dot Journal Kit that is available at select JOANN stores. The You Will Make It insert actually belongs to the Pink Glitter Journal kit, but I am pretty quick to mix and match the journal inserts in differing ways.
Along with Washi Tape, the Heidi Swapp Journal Studio Sticker Book + Ephemera, I am putting several pages together to aid me in tracking life right now.
Inside these inserts I almost always start with a title page. The month stickers found in the Sticker Book are perfectly suited to these type pages. It helps in the organizing of the book. Here you can see I added in the October Calendar sticker along with that hand lettered Plan Of Action sticker. Washi Tape and additional stickers help make this a happy landing page.
This is the heart of my tracking daily life right now. There are so many great challenges out there in the cyber world presently. This challenge I am currently following is having me to track my daily water intake, my daily activity, how early I wake, my processed sugar intake and this little tracker reminds me to write my list of gratitudes. I just used my pen to make the grid. And I fill it in daily. Love how this is working for me right now.
Another way to track life in a Traveler’s Journal is to create a space for notes, and quotes, or insights. I love to use the journal spot stickers to add in these comments into my journal. It’s fun. It’s interesting. And these enjoyable pages all draw me in again when I peruse at a later time.
Gratitude anyone? Um…yes! I can’t preach this enough. A place to write down the things you are thankful for? Yes, please. Daily. Do this daily. This journal is a great space to record those littlest of things in your life that make you happy. That catch your attention. That just bring a smile to your face. Gratitude is so powerful. And a place to hold those gratitudes is needful. Do I hear an amen? Yes! Gratitude, people. Won’t you join me.
The last way (I am sharing today) that I like to track life in my travelers journal is by adding in some creative exercises. This one here is super simple. I mean. Super. I knew I wanted to add a Minc element in my journal (I add all kinds of things to this journal, don’t let Minc stop you). And so I took a piece of acetate. Then using Heidi Swapp Art Screen and Reactive Art Screen Ink, I laid down this sentiment with a scraper. Once dry, I ran it through the Minc Machine with Pink Reactive Foil. I like the layer of the acetate. Plus it leaves room if I want to expound on this idea I can add it to the page underneath. This is a super easy way to add creative touches to a book that is tracking daily stuff.
Plan of action: It can be as simple as one desires. It can be glammed and and foiled up as one desires. It can be daily or weekly. Whatever suits your current needs, Heidi Swapp Journal Studio with traveler’s journal inserts is a perfect way to track daily life.
