How to Use a Travelers Notebook as a Diary
Today I want to share my love for Journal Studio.
I love this system for a variety of reasons.
Reason #1: they are all just plain gorgeous.
From the actual albums to the journal inserts, they are filled with beautiful designs, color combinations and because they are all so uniquely different there really is something for everybody with this collection.
Reason #2: I love how they are 100% customizable.
The journals are blank, dotted and/or grid. That means they can truly be created to fit any type of project you had in mind. Love to create scrapbook ‘traveler notebook’ style pages? Awesome they can do it! You love to make lists? There is a notebook for that too! Need a place where you just need to record all the never ending details of your life? Guaranteed Journal Studio can help you with that.
I also love that once you invest in an actual ‘album’ you can always swap out the insides allowing you to be able to constantly change it up!
I use Journal Studio for many different types of projects.
I’ve used Journal Studio to create smaller scale scrapbook style pages.
I’ve also used Journal Studio as a tracker system.
I also love using Journal Studio as a monthly planner.
I also love using it just as it’s name states…a journal.
For the month of April I have done just that.
Creating calendar spreads is probably one of my most favourite ways to ‘begin’ my notebook.
I have to admit sometimes a blank notebook can be quite intimidating. One just never knows really how to begin or where to start.
Creating calendar spreads for me is one way I like to essentially “break the ice” with my notebook. This allows me to be creative and functional. It gets me actually writing on the page. It breaks down my month but yet provides the platform for the pretty. For the stickers, the washi, the artistic elements we all know and love.
Creating my calendar is quite simple. I hand draw them using a straight edge ruler and micro fine tip pen. They are certainly not perfect and there are mistakes everywhere. However…thanks to beautiful stickers I can hide them whenever need be.
For this month I chose to use my Journal Studio as an actual daily journal.
One spread is each week. I created simple hand drawn boxes. Again, no formula here. I just started drawing boxes in all different sizes (7 in total) and then embellished and filled them in with journaling, notes and embellishments.
I loved using pieces from the Journal Studio Ephemera to label my week. There are also awesome journal labels to use especially to add to your photos!
You can see that I have pretty much kept my process the same for each week but they all have their own personality which is super fun. I never really know what direction each spread will take.
Sometimes I don’t know what to write and that is ok. I also love filling my boxes up with favourite quotes or passages that I have come across during the week.
Here is a look at the current week (and next) so you can see just how these blank boxes serve as little nuggets to fill up with all the life stuff.
I really hope that you are inspired to check out Journal Studio if you have not yet. It is the BEST way to get your creative juices flowing and loving to write again has been the best medicine for me. I can’t wait to see where the month of May decides to take me.
