Ideas For Creating a Lucky Layout | Heidi Swapp Storyline Chapters
Happy St Patrick’s Day!
Don’t you just love the lore of St Patrick’s Day? Here’s the thing I learned recently though: luck is not originally an Irish term. It’s actually Dutch! Right?!? But here’s the next thing: it’s meaning. Luck means: happiness or good fortune. With that in mind, it’s easy to make any layout and story with luck in mind, right? Most often our layouts celebrate our happiness, our good fortune, our blessed moments. Today’s layout and ideas are no exception to that idea.
Then there is the symbol of the shamrock. St Patrick himself utilized the 3-leaf shamrock as a faith symbol. Here today I have no qualms about adding that icon to this lucky baby page. As a matter of fact, you have the good fortune today to make these right now!
I’m not gonna lie…this is not a new technique by any means. What makes it so very wonderful? Taking a heart paper punch or die to create shamrocks. I am using the Storyline Chapters Project Pad. In that collection of papers and stickers there is also a full sheet of gold glitter paper. Gold. Get it? Pot of gold at the end of the rainbow? I’m shameless, I know. But look how easy this is to DIY an embellishment for a lucky layout like this one. Punch or die cut three or four gold glitter hearts. Glue them at their points to create a shamrock. How lucky we paper crafters are to create such wonderful and practical ideas with paper.
To continue with the theme, there is also a page of rainbows with gold foil touches. I cut one of the rainbows out as another DIY embellishement to layer with the hand made shamrock. This is a great idea for any pattern paper with large icons. Cut away for taking that paper and icon one step further.
Don’t be green with envy, friends. Take this inspiration, use a favorite photo or two, your favorite story, and the Lucky prompt to document that story. And celebrate this St Patrick’s Day in a story telling fashion.
