InstaLove Mini Album Gift Idea
It would not be a normal Christmas for me if I was not giving away photo gifts of some sort or another.
And as the week before Christmas is quickly coming to it’s fruition, I am still whipping up a few of those album gifts. Like this one here using the InstaLove Gold Stripe Album.
This album is filled with pocket pages and is purposed to be used with Instax prints. Along with photos highlighting my children’s year (sort of a year in the life album), I am also using the InstaLove Filler Cards that perfectly compliment these photos. But I used these cards with a little interactive technique. Let me show off this album to you with some details in the making.
In an attempt to provide an album of photos highlighting each of my kid’s lives, I wanted to keep it fairly straight forward. Just a photo and words. Minimal embellishment require. Cause remember…this is sort of last minute too.
Wanting each ‘page layout’ to show off one of the filler cards, I decided to created an interactive journal spot element. Later I will share the details as to how this card comes together using washi tape.
The filler cards include two sticker sheets. I used the MEMORIES sticker from the Rose Cards as an extra little embellie to that heart card.
The rest of the album continues with the same theme. An interactive journal card + an embellishment card, and of course a photo. It was fun to use the frame cards to add a bit of detail to each of the photos.
Lindsay, from the Heidi Swapp Media, and always full of beautiful story ideas, gave me the suggestion for creating this mini album. I really enjoyed going through a year of photos and finding that one photo from each month that told just the right story.
Sister stories are totally important. I was sure to add this story to my gift album.
The rest of the book reads the same. Photo + story.
On this mini spread I added a frame plus one of the sentiment stickers to the journal spot.
If you have a teenager, I think it’s important to write them stories about themselves. With girls, I know they can be so hard on themselves. When I saw that I had grabbed this mini portrait of my 15-year old, words immediately came to me that she needed to hear. We should never under-estimate their need to hear of our love for them.
A little collage of stickers found were gathered and placed on this journal card to add to the feel of the words.
So here is a little mini-how-to for putting these pages together. For the right side you will need a photo and a frame.
Layer the photo over the frame, adhering if you wish. The glitter frames come with a little adhesive sticker on the back.
Next, slip framed photo inside the pocket page. It’s just that simple. Sort of like minimalist scrapbooking. Nothing wrong with that.
Seen here is an embellishment card and washi tape adhering it to the back of the journal card. This will now fold over perfectly for an interactive twist to this album. A fun way to hide hidden journaling.
Add words and sentiment stickers inside on the journal card. Trust me, this is such a needful part.
Slip the journal card only into the pocket. That leaves the embellishment card free to flip open on top.
And that is just one way to create a mini album gift for that last minute Christmas gift…or for any time of the year. Photos + words are always welcome gifts.
Whatever story you are telling this season, my wish for you and yours is that you have a very Merry Christmas. See you next year.
