Journal Studio | DIY Inspiration Notebook
About a month ago, Jennifer Evans posted THIS photo on IG.
And I was instantly inspired.
Jen is a wonderful artist…and she makes these amazing smash books filled with bit & pieces and odd & ends.
I decided to wanted to do the same…sorta.
Mixed media, and “art,” in general, are not really my thing…I’m just not good at them. But I do love me a simple little traveler’s notebook spread. So I decided to create my own style of smash book…using Heidi’s Journal Studio & Color Fresh Paperline Collections.
I have a huge stack of ideas that I’ve cut from magazines over the years…so I started by going through those and choosing the ones that still appeal to me.
Then I went through my current stack of magazines and snipped my favorite photos from those.
I love that these pages turned into little mini scrapbook pages, inspired by some of my favorite magazine design ideas.
Shown above – some of the fantastic patterned paper designs from the Color Fresh Paperline collection…LOVE!
I used a mix of both Heidi’s Journal Studio collection & the Color Fresh Paperline in the spread above…they just work so well together.
And honestly, those wall murals?
I die.
This is probably my favorite spread. The washi tape pieces at the top of the paper roll photo are 100% awesome.
And using a full-size photo on one page of my spread is one of my favorite traveler’s journal techniques.
Creating this notebook was really a wonderful creative exercise…and I’m so grateful to Jen for posting that IG photo!
I see many more spreads, many more notebooks full of spreads, in my future…
