Journal Studio Gift
My best friend is returning to work as a teacher soon after several years of leave. She is nervously planning her return in a few months so I decided to create a place for her to record all her ideas and thoughts in the one place! I’ve decided to use the Heidi Swapp edition of Journal Studio for this project. The notebooks that carry a couple of inserts will be a beautiful way for her to record her thoughts!
I began by grabbing the Pink Glitter Journal Kit. I love how the glitter cover looks and feels- it gives a fun but sophisticated feel and I know she is going to love it!
Inside the cover are two journals, the first with the beautiful cover ” You will make it”. I thought it was the perfect journal for her journey ahead.
For my opening page I cut one of the “This Year” stickers from the Journal Studio Sticker book in half and stuck it on either side of the pages. I then added some of the letter and number stickers also from the Sticker book to decorate the sticker. I then went in with one of my Clear Stamps from the Color Fresh collection and repeated the stamping over and over for a fun effect.
I typed out some Teaching quotes and trimmed them into strips to complete my pages.
I then went through my 6×6 paper pad from the Color Fresh collection and punched out some tabs using my We R Memory Keepers File Tab punch. I adhered them to a piece of scratch paper and ran them through my typewriter again to add the titles to each section of the journal. I removed the tabs from the paper and then adhered two tabs back to back and stapled them to my pages using my Heidi Swapp Mini Stapler from the (Color Fresh Memory Planner collection).
I went through the Ephemera pack from the Journal Studio collection and layered a few pieces. I then added a couple of strips of washi and finally grabbed the same stamp as from the previous page and add more random stamping to complete the page.
For the next set of pages I used one of the large stickers from the Sticker book as my heading. Again I layered some Ephemera and stamping to connect with the previous page!
I love the color combo of pink, lime and black and white.
My next set of pages starts off with another of the large stickers from the sticker book. I turned the sticker vertical for a fun effect. I repeated the same layering of Ephemera, Washi and stamping for a cohesive feel to the journal.
This time I began with one of the large tags from the Ephemera pack and adhered it to the center of the page. I then faithfully added my layers again to connect to my previous pages.
My final page emulates all the previous pages. The repeated stamping adds such texture but without the bulk. It is one of my favorite techniques.
I plan on giving my friend the journal this week. I hope she likes it as much as I do! It was a pleasure to create and I am excited to see her journey back to teaching begin!
