Now that Christmas is over, and we are heading into 2019, I’m feeling that start-of-a-new-year yearn for a fresh start, an urge to get organized and the motivation to complete projects that have been on my to-do list FOR-EVER.
But this year, I’m trying something different.
Instead of my standard resolutions…the ones I make every year and rarely am still working on by February, thus leaving me with a sense of failure and incompetence…I’m creating a year-long list of things I want to get done.
Active word, want…not need…no pressure here.
I’m calling it my “19 for 2019.”
19 things that have gone undone for ages, things that aren’t quite important enough to finish with any urgency.
Things I’d be THRILLED to complete, but am not too worried about if they don’t get done ASAP.
You know the kind of things I’m talking about, right?
To help me along with this list, I’ll be employing some of my favorite Journal Studio items.
This fantastic notebook from Heidi’s “Dot” Journal Kit…
…as well as two of the new Journal Studio Tools from We R Memory Keepers…
…the Felt Travel Workspace, and…
…the Mini Paper Trimmer.
I’ve decided to keep this journal extra simple and easy…using it as more of a bullet-style notebook…a place to record what I’d like to get done, and, hopefully, everything I’m able to accomplish through the year.
I’m keeping my journal tucked inside my Felt Travel Workspace, and I’m keeping everything I need to work in it inside there, too…this will make it even easier when I want to add any notes or keep myself updated on my progress.
One of the coolest things about the Travel Workspace is that you can tuck the edges of your journal under these awesome elastic straps so that the pages stay down – and there is a hard plastic removable mat to work on. So no matter where you are, you can work easily!
I set up my first page using these awesome stickers from Heidi’s Journal Studio Sticker Book.
I mean, for real…how awesome is this page?!
And these colors?!
For the next two pages, I’ve added a list of my 19 projects.
I typed the list on my computer, and then printed it out and adhered it inside my notebook.
I was going to hand-write everything, but I really love how clean and sharp the typed list looks.
Just a few strips of washi and a couple of embellishments are all the decorating this journal page needs.
The second page of my list is mainly blank…I’m hoping to use this (and it’s opposite page) to keep notes or completion dates.
Or, who knows? Maybe I’ll just leave that beautiful grid empty…one of my goals for the New Year is to remove some of the clutter from my life – why not start with my documenting?
I’ve also decided to add a list of monthly to-dos for 2019 in this journal, as well as a “CURRENTLY READING” and “CURRENTLY WATCHING” tracker (you can find those stickers in Heidi’s Journal Studio Sticker Book).
Here’s a close-up of my January page…and here’s where I want to show you how I’m using that other awesome We R Memory Keepers tool with this journal.
The Mini Paper Cutter is the perfect size for trimming smaller pieces of paper…like stickers or embellishments!
To set up my January page, I used one of the the Sticker Book stickers, and simply trimmed off the part of the sticker I wasn’t going to use (before I removed the sticker from its backing).
Now I can use the rest of that sticker in another place!
I trimmed down some of these bullet stickers, too…
…to create individual stickers to be used in my journal.
So cute, right?
Thanks so much for taking a look at how I’m organizing my 2019 home goals…keep up to date with my progress on my personal blog – midwesterngirldiy.com – and on Instagram @maggiemassey.
Happy New Year!
