Julianne Hough’s Bridal Shower | Part 2
As soon as the invites were in the mail for Julianne Hough’s bridal shower, it was time to finalize the Menu! I called out to 3 of my friends that also work foodie magic and they were all really excited to be a part of Jules’ special event.
I wanted to keep things social and easy to eat and serve in an outdoor setting…
1. FLAVORED LEMONADE
I knew that it would be nice and warm outside, and so i wanted guests to be able to get a fresh and fruity lemonade right away, and have access to unlimited return trips to the lemonade bar! I called my friend Caley of Caley’s Catering. Caley and I are friends from High School, but she also runs an amazing catering company here in SLC! I called her wondering if she had ever done a DIY, fruit and flavored lemonade bar?!
They have been doing lots of flavored and italian soda type soda bars, but not specifically with lemonade! we scheduled a tasting and i met her at her shop in Draper/So. Jordan area. We got out a bunch of different flavorings, fresh fruit and mint. Flavorings like: watermelon, coconut, blue berry, strawberry, raspberry, peach, mango that come in the glass bottles with tall pumps! She brought out lemon slices and lime wedges, fresh strawberry, raspberry and the biggest black berries! We just tested, tried, sipped and enjoyed the most DELICIOUS and beautiful varieties of lemonade i had ever tasted! I was so excited! This was going to be perfect!
2. CHIPS & DIPS!
Chips and salsa is like the ultimate social snack! I though it would be fun to create a tortilla chip and dip bar that would have a variety of salsas! Caley’s Catering helped out here too and she recommended delicious options: mango salsa, spicy green salsa, a red medium salsa and of course guacamole! This was a perfect compliment to the main dish i was planning!
3. CARNE ASADA TACOS
If you have ever been lucky enough to encounter the LLOYDS BBQ food truck, you know exactly what i am talking about … the food is DELICIOUS! While Lloyds is generally known for his amazing BBQ, the fact is that he is a grill master! Literally! He offered up the idea of delish carne asada tacos on corn tortillas. Served with Watermelon wedges, and topped with cilantro, onions, cotija cheese and lime. That looked and sounded fantastic!
Knowing Megan Falkner-Brown, owner of The Sweet Tooth Fairy, has it’s privileges! I will admit, i went to her with a photo that i found on Pinterest of these gorgeous mini naked cakes! it wasn’t something off the typical Menu at the Sweet Tooth Fairy, but Megan is ALWAYS up for a challenge! her Dessert bar absolutely BLEW my mind!
I wanted to create stations for all the different FOOD, and knowing it would be high noon, i cooked up a fun idea to create some AWNINGS that would fit right over a 6’ table…. here’s where Eric got involved! “Hey honey…. do you think you could build 5 awnings?”
HE DID! … he devised a plan to create an awning that would sit right on a 6’ table. He mass-produced 5, and we painted them white. The TRICK was actually transforming me into a seamstress that could SEW the fabric portion of these awnings.
I recruited some help… we kinda did a little guess work, and about a million hours later (ok, it only seemed like a million hours) we whipped up 5 scalloped-edged, Black and White Striped, lined fabric awnings! we picked up the fabric from IKEA. and they were adorable!
Four of them would be used for the food stations, and the last would be used for the INSTAX printing station. Come back tomorrow to see more!
