live from new york

i love this town.
it’s time to go home. we have had a wonderful stay. it’s been short, but i am SO exhausted that i can hardly wait to lay my head back for my four hour nap home! coming here straight from CKU-a was a little bit crazy… to expect that i would have the normal energy level to work my way to all my favorite stops. no dice. i am physically, emotionally and creatively drained! but in such a good way.

cku was amazing. truly one of the best so far! (i think i always feel like that as i am leaving one!) i love the heavenly beds at the westin, and i am sad that i didn’t dedicate more time to sleeping in one! this cku was the first that i brought my mom. that was so much fun to have her there. she loved it! i felt like things went smooth and the women in my track really ‘got’ what i was hoping they would! our class room was one of those big white ‘party’ tents that they put up outside in the “garden pavillion”. i was nervous about it at first. the lighting was bad, and the temp control was an issue! but in the end, it couldn’t have worked out better to have TONS of room! space is always in high demand.
thanks to all those who were there… i just had a magnificent time!

we left Conn. on sunday and rode the train into NYC. did i mention how much i love it here? my cutest pregnant sister katie and my aunt marsha met up with us here. we have just had a blast…we have been pushing so hard to get the most out of our time and i think that we did really good. got a ton of new ideas, am LOVING all the new trends i am seeing … so fun to watch! got some new TSUBO shoes and they are so cute. (brown and pink) — that was a major goal for the trip… (i think that as a group we purchased five pair! they are so hard to find! we had the chance to meet up with a cousin of mine that i haven’t seen in 25 years. that was amazing! and the cherry on top was last night… we saw “WICKED”. i LOVED IT! so much. it was absolutely fabulolus! it was everything and more that i expected and hoped it would be! truly a magnificent performance and story and songs and overall i just couldn’t be happier to finally see it! scott, you were right, it was totally mind blowing!
ok… 7am… need to catch a taxi to the airport! i can’t wait to get back home! missing the kids and eric much!

I am so jealous! I am DYING to get to NY but unfortunately it’s a bit of a hike from Oz! One day! So glad you had a blast both there and CKU-a. You MUST come back to Australia one day soon – I missed you when you were last here.
    LOVE your stuff.

Soooo glad that CKU-a went well for you & that you had a great time in NYC!! I’ve never been there but it’s on my list of MUST-SEE cities now that my hubby is an airline pilot. I need to check out those TSUBO shoes though….I’m in the dark on what those are unfortunately!

I haven’t been to NYC since I was a kid. My Uncle is a designer in Manhattan and would wisk us around the place. I don’t think I appreciated it enough back then, I would love to go back as an adult.
I can’t wait to see what you end up turning into product. I don’t know how you keep up with the pressure of trying to churn out things for three shows. I have trouble just trying to buy things from each show and come up with displays. I’m worn out and I don’t have to design it and run around the country promoting it, good thing you bought those new shoes!

If this is your first pair of tsubos you will be so happy you bought them. They are truly SO comfy!
Glad you had a great time at CKU-A. I wasn’t in your track, as I knew it would be too emotional for me but I so plan on making a SHE album about my mom who is dying. I just wanted to thank you for your genorosity Saturday night. I got a complete set of your chipboard letters, Woohoo! Thanks again for being an authentically lovely person.

Saw Wicked here in San Fran — wasn’t it amazing? I haven’t been “wowed” like that for a LONG time! (I think since I saw Duran Duran in concert in 1984…!!!).
Glad you had fun. Can’t wait to make it to CKU one of these days…

    hi heidi!
my name is heidi too. i love the name heidi. anyways- i am writing for the first time here. i had to after i saw that you went to wicked. i went about a month ago on broadway and that was my second time. it rocks! i love nyc too! i have been there 3 times in the last 18 months. i am totally obsessed but i know what you mean about being worn out when you get home. i would love to compare nyc notes with you. i have seen layouts of yours about the magnolia bakery, which i have been dying to go to…anyways… i know you are super busy but write me back with some of your favorite places to go and see and do and places to go and eat. i have a bunch that i can give to you too. i saw 4 broadway shows on my last trip! all, of course, spectacular, but besides wicked being my favorite- isn’t “popular” the best song?-my little girls know all of the words. as i was saying- mamma mia was totally awesome too. the music was so loud and just really great. hope to hear from you soon!

Your album track at CKU-A Stamford was amazing, way above and beyond any expectations I had before I got there! You, your girls, your wonderful Mom….you made it the most memorable experience for me, and I thank you for that. You’re truly a beautiful person (inside AND out!), talented, inspiring, and downright generous! You must have been totally exhausted by the time you went to NYC….heck, I was totally exhausted when I got home from CKU!
I know that there wasn’t a disappointed person in your track – you have an “aura” about you that makes people feel good about themselves, including “me”!
    Again, thank you!
