Love Your Lettering Kit
You’ve heard the phrase, “just put your John Hancock on the dotted line” right? That’s because John Hancock’s larger than any signature on the Declaration of Independence in 1776 has become an icon for all time for signatures. Oh. AND…for handwriting!
Today, January 23, is the birthday of John Hancock. And 200 years after his infamous signature The Writing Instrument Manufacturers Association dubbed this day National Handwriting Day. And so, we celebrate handwriting today.
Handwriting is a bit of a lost art…or is it?
Hand lettering has boomed over the past few years as a significant trend in the stationary and paper craft world. And we here at Heidi Swapp get to play right along.
I love that. Because I am one who often suffers from #fomo (fear of missing out).
Well stay tuned. As we do NOT have to miss out on working on our handwriting.
Heidi Swapp’s new kit found at JOANN stores is here to celebrate Handwriting Day.
This boxed kit includes one creative workbook. One pencil. One super cool eraser. One brush pen. One fine tipped pen. and a super pretty ruler.
Inside the Love Your Lettering workbook are 4 lessons that include the need for your own individuality to shine, how to find your style, pages and pages of practice opportunity…
and a fun super creative lesson on mixing up styles and putting it all together.
Heidi is known for her handwriting style…
and her message is that handwriting does not have to be a lost art. In our day of constant emails and text and dm’s galore…the personal touch of a hand written note can go a long way in reaching out to a friend and really showing how much you care for them.
With every new year I know I try and re-new my resolve to be better about writing notes and sending them in the mail. I know how much it means to me that someone has taken the time to sit down. Think thoughts. And send them to me personally.
I bet John H never thought this would be such a novel idea.
Well. Let’s resolve for practicing our hand lettering and writing to NOT be a rare notion. (and when I say practice…I mean practice. practice. practice.) Let’s reach out and connect with those people that we think about during our day and see if we can’t make a little difference in their every day life. We have the power to add to their story in simple yet impactful ways.
It’s that simple. John Hancock’s infamous signature was inspired to make an impact on a king long ago. And it did!!! Today we can do the same thing.
