lucky YOU!
Well, in the spirit of St. Patrick’s Day, (which I am pretty sure they don’t celebrate here) I have bee feeling bad that I forgot to put a little green food coloring in the pancakes this morning.. when I was little, we’d wake up to green milk, have green pancakes, and even green jell-o! but I did wear a green shirt today, does that count for anything!?
Well, in celebration of this LUCKY day! i have a couple LUCKY things to share!
First… check out this: do you want a FUN ‘lucky’ background (just like this one I am sporting)… for a few days? It’s available here to the first 100 people to download it… also, try just printing it out.. makes a super cute ‘lucky you’ card. It’s a fun time to tell people how LUCKY you feel to have them in your life, and would even be a fun one to have on a scrapbook page. I even created a couple ‘lucky’ brushes that are available today ONLY free to the first 100 downloads… you can see them here too! (it’s what I used for my blog banner and you can see them on my background as well… would be fun to have around as well! 3 handwritten words, and a ‘lucky’ definition! (i also used these frames for my blog banner)
EDITED: *** that was FAST, the 100 downloads are GONE! if you still want the LUCKY background you can purchase it here for .99$! and these cute brushes can be purchased here:
We are getting ready to release some new content in addition to this and this that are new at House of 3. Mostly we are all working on some FUN for Easter! We are planning to help you be all ready for an awesome Easter celebration…before the ‘day before’. (typical of me).
One of the GOOD things about moving back home is that quite frankly, my scrapbook ‘stash’ is SLIM pickin’s. I mean, it’s bad. Today I was digging through my scrap drawer to try to find some fuchsia cardstock! And I had NO LUCK! And just a good ‘lime’ colored cardstock… or ANY paper… monochromatic… ? NOTHING! Man, (grrrr). Ok, so that is good news! And I had to postpone my shipment of my NEW ‘heidi swapp’ CHA goodies… which means, that I only have 2 sheets of each paper, and a couple meager chipboard invisibles and I do have the stamps. But I tell you what.. I am LOW. I am having to get REALLY creative. (what can you do w/ white cardstock! LOL).
ANYWAY, I thought that I’d pick a few LUCKY winners today… I have put together a couple ‘prize’ packages.. and if you are a winner, it might mean that you will get your goodies to play with before I do!! (yikes).
Today I am giving 5 LUCKY winners:
The ENTIRE invisibles collection:
2 of ALL the papers, The chipboard Sheets, The chipboard ornate frames, the chipboard shapes that have birds, hearts, butterflies, stars… the works!, the 2 different alphabet sets (dots and gridlines) AND, since it just makes it FUN to use with the invisibles, I am throwing in a BRACKETS mega mask!
you can see the collection in my NEW winter CHA catalog on-line…
but the chipboard looks something like this:

We’ll be playing with this stuff when I come to Edmonton for the ‘All Day’ workshop! and in Houston at By Design Scrapbooks. You will LOVE this stuff… it’s exciting to try.

This is what the Invisibles paper looks like when i used the braket frame mega mask, and some Broken China Distress ink... (pls forgive the bad lighting!)

you might notice some Grunge board, and some verb stickers, and some ghost wings, and these stickers…
and some Bling

And I thought I would throw in a ‘bag clip’… because I think this is the coolest thing… it’s designed to hold your purse, or your scrapbook tool bag.. or whatever- just off the edge of the table. It’s perfect for a crop, and then out to lunch! So cute! It just folds up and takes up no room at all! You have to see it to believe it!
Just leave me a comment and tell me what makes you ‘lucky’.. (for the record, I don’t believe in LUCK except in FARKLE… what I really mean is ‘blessed’!) today is a good day to reflect on our awesome blessings… I hope that you are feelin’ lucky today! I know that I am.
(last night FHE … eating Girl Scout Cookies smashed in icecream (thanks EM) and playing Farkle)
I was feeling PRETTY LUCKY to be eating Girl Scout Cookies (thin mints are my fav! i like them frozen)
oh, and CONGRATS to all you LUCKY GIRLS coming to Creative Escape!! if you haven't heard, don't give up hope! keep your fingers crossed!

17 March, 2009 at 8:41 amThis may sound corny, but I am feeling lucky (blessed) to have stumbled upon this “hobby”/”obsession” we call scrapbooking!! I never thought of myself as a particularly creative person, but scrapbooking has opened up a whole new world for me. I LOVE everything about it: the product, the people, the inspiration, but most of all, I love that I am creatively keeping memories alive for my family…so very LUCKY!!

17 March, 2009 at 8:48 amHeidi – I’ve been looking forward to your new stuff FOREVER – I can’t wait to play with your mega masks and invisibles. I’ve been ‘lucky’ with the things that really matter – family and health and happiness. With my hubby losing his job, we’ve been reflecting on how lucky we really are, despite the economy. I know things will look up – I’m feelin’ lucky! (I’m also a HUGE fan of the frozen minty-goodness!!)Good luck to you and yours with your upcoming move.

17 March, 2009 at 9:07 amI am super lucky. I have too many reasons to write but the most recent reason I am so lucky is that I stumbled upon the house of 3 website and your blog. I am truly addicted! I am lucky to be blessed with wonderful friends and family that love and care for me so deeply. I am lucky that I am going to be marrying my high school sweet heart this year (only took me 9 years of convincing lol). I am lucky that I have a secure job in this tough economy. I am lucky that I have God in my life! I am most lucky that I can in fact realize all of these things. Even when times are tough, you have to think about the good things! A quote that I love “Absolutely NOTHING can ever happen that can’t be seen as a blessing in some wonderful way” Happy St. Patricks day!

17 March, 2009 at 9:35 amI love my thin mints frozen too. I got it from my dad. lol. I am such a sucker for girl scout cookies too since I remember the days of standing outside the grocerry store selling them.
I feel lucky each and everyday. I really do thank God everyday for giving me such wonderful guys in my life. I have a great husband (well fiancee…we have been together for 10 years and are getting married on April 11), and we have 4 wonderful boys. I never thought I would be a mom to all boys, but I thank God for it each and everyday and would not change a single thing about it at all. So that is why I feel lucky all the time.
Have a great day, and good luck on your move back to the states. I am in CA and we are having some beautiful weather the last few days, in the 70’s.

17 March, 2009 at 9:52 amI am LUCKY on SO many levels ….I am not sure why your question made me think of my childhood and being LUCKY because of it…probably b/c my childhood has brought me to where I am today…so BLESSED!!!
I am LUCKY to have been born in the early 1960s !!!
I survived my mom who smoked and drank while pregnant (as a lot of women did then… it was “normal”)
My baby crib was probably coated with several coats of lead based paint !
I never sat in a car seat…. in fact, I fondly recall being allowed to ride on the engine casing which was on the inside of the car… right in between the 2 front seats !
My brothers were MEAN and I survived their pranks and tricks!
We didn’t have airbags in the cars!
I don’t think I ever used a seatbelt until 1990s…
I recall being left in the car with my siblings while my mom would run into the grocery store…that was “normal” too!
I grew up in a neighborhood FULL of kids and NEIGHBORS…who knew you and spoke to you.
The kids in our neighborhood spent every moment possible running around OUTSIDE !..kick the can in the dark was the best!
We drank from the garden hose … I still recall, no so fondly, that plastic flavored HOT water.
We played OUTSIDE … never affraid of kidnappers or bad guys !
I did NOT have playstation, Wii, Xbox, …no computer… no email… we had boardgames, cards and books ! We rarely watched TV ! (the screen was only 4″ wide…yes, FOUR inches…who wants to watch that?)
we WROTE letters.
I had the coolest DAD EVER who belived in me!
I went to school where the nuns were strict but NEVER hit me with a ruler!
I did not have parents who would bail me out of trouble… I had to face consequences..
I lived KNOWING that they would side with police if I were ever arrested. (never tested those waters !)
LUCKY… to have been a product of the 60s…70s…80s… raised as a risk taker, productive, thoughtful and kind person.
Lucky indeed!

17 March, 2009 at 10:09 amOnly ONE thing? There are so many things that make me lucky. Honestly, I could drone on for awhile. If you made me pick ONE thing, I would say my FAMILY. I love the whole, wide-open, exahusting, exhilarating, funny, soul-nurturing group. Can you get any luckier than that? NO!

17 March, 2009 at 10:24 amI am BLESSED to have a 13 year old daughter who thinks it’s cool to hang out with mom. She loves to go scrapbooking with me and my friends, and feels like she is part of the group. She still blows me a kiss when I drop her of at school and says “Bye Mom, I love you”. She still wants to cuddle up at night and read a book (Both of us reading our own, but together), she still likes to talk to me about what’s going on in her life. I feel so blessed that I have this kind of relationship with her.

17 March, 2009 at 10:27 amYou know, some times it takes life changing events to make you aware of how blessed you really are. Last September, when my Mom passed, I thought my life was going to end . . . . . I was so devastated. Yet, since then I feel like I have almost been given a new lease on life. I am blessed by being able to provide things for my family such as a roof over our heads, clothes on our backs and our bellies are definitely full, we do not have any needs. I am so blessed also by being able to participate in this wonderful obsession, known as scrapbooking. I have met so many wonderful people! So many friendships have been born and so many more to meet!

17 March, 2009 at 10:27 amI can’t wait to see your new products in my local store. They look so fun to work with. I had all these great plans of making a green breakfast for the kiddos, but I slept in and then they were all asleep when I left I for work. There’s always tonight to make a “green” dinner.

17 March, 2009 at 10:36 amI am just very thankful for the eyes of blessing…to see everything in a light of thankfulness. It’s hard sometimes, but knowing that God is in control, and is the ultimate creator of love and beauty…that’s inspiring. Especially to see my little girl following with those beautiful eyes of Thankfulness too! That’s MY Blessing.

17 March, 2009 at 10:39 amWe really had a LUCKY day today! There has been a sign through our neighborhood for weeks showing a picture of a missing cat. My 7 and 4 year olds REALLY wanted to find this cat and have been taking walks every day to “look”. This morning our dog was doing some digging in my very small flowerbed which has a small fountain as well. If I water she usually leaves my flowers alone, but this time she would not give it up and kept sniffing around in there. All of a sudden I see a little white puff sneak out from under the fountain! I thought it was a mouse, though a fluffy one, and called my husband out. It became a true family affair to get whatever it was out. Well, ends up being that LOST CAT!!! The lady who came to pick up the kitty was crying she was so happy. It was an indoor cat for ten years she said and she figured she would never see it again. My kids could not have been more excited about all of this rescuing. They kept saying “We KNEW we would find that cat!” Too cute!!

17 March, 2009 at 10:47 amI almost started my day off crabby when my 2 year old woke me up at 6:50 am. However, my day turned around quickly and I knew I was “lucky” (blessed!) when my 5 year old daughter woke up and the first thing out of her mouth was “Mommy, you’re the most wonderfulest mommy in the whole wide world and you look so beautiful everyday”! I had no makeup on, no contacts in and still in jammies…how lucky am I to have her?!?!?! Happy St. Patty’s Day Heidi!

17 March, 2009 at 10:48 amI’m never lucky! I’m one of those people who just never win when there’s a drawing etc. However, I AM SO blessed. I know how blessed I am everyday when I see my children’s smiling (or dirty) faces. I love my family!

17 March, 2009 at 10:49 amWow! What an amazing giveaway! I have been so excited to see your invisibles line!
I feel blessed to have the family that I have – my three little boys and my hubby. He has been out of town for the past week and it is always a great reminder how blessed you are to have someone in your life when they are gone for a few days.
Just a funny note – I didn’t even know farkle was a game! My youngest son has called popsicles “farkles” for quite some time now. (I have no idea why!) I even have a LO about that funny word meaning popsicle at our house. Now I will have to learn more about the game! 🙂

17 March, 2009 at 11:01 amoooo. what makes me lucky? eh? pretty hard question as I don’t really believe in luck either. I believe in making the very best of what’s handed to you. If it’s a good thing, cool. those are easy. But if it’s a ‘bad’ or hard thing to handle, then just turn it around and make it work for you. So in that sense, I’m very luck!

17 March, 2009 at 11:02 amI am lucky (blessed) to have a roof over my head, money in the bank and a healthy family. I have nothing to complain about. Now an invite to CE would’ve been nice, but now that money can go elsewhere, like maybe a trip to Boise to see my BFF.

17 March, 2009 at 11:05 amIn addition to the usual “lucky”, or blessings of being a mom to my happy and healthy kids and wife to an amazing, supportive husband, I feel very lucky and fortunate to have been born and raised in the USA. (and in the time period that I was) To think that so many around the world are not given the opportunities and have the modern-day conveniences/luxuries that we have today makes me one happy-go-lucky girl!!
Crossing my fingers as I hope to win! Everything in the Invisibles line is too, too cute!! 🙂 Thanks Heidi and Happy St. Patty’s Day!

17 March, 2009 at 11:22 amI feel so lucky to have my husband and son. My childhood wasn’t so great. So I lucked out and found me a wonderful husband and we’ve been married for 16 years and together for 19 years. I am one of 5 siblings and they have had multiple marriages. Me, I just want one. He is so unlike my dad and is so supportive and caring and understanding. I’m lucky to have him. And I’m also lucky to have the most wonderful niece anyone could wish for. Did I mention she was beautiful. I’m lucky because they love me in spite of my faults.

17 March, 2009 at 12:14 pmAs a Mom….I feel lucky to have technology that allows me to see and talk to my son in the Army. He called me for the first time yesterday on the webcam and it brought tears to my eyes. We haven’t seen him since he left on Feb 6, 2009…and I dearly miss him. He is currently stationed in Oklahoma until August…he is not sure where he goes after that….possibly Afganistan. I miss him every day….but feel lucky that I can occassionally see him via the internet webcam

17 March, 2009 at 12:24 pmHi Heidi. Lucky will always be a fond word in my vocabulary. We had a Yorkie, Lucky, who we found squished in a birdcage 13 years ago. He died in October. We named him Lucky because he was Lucky to be alive and we were Lucky to have him. The work “Lucky” will always bring a smile to my face and a tug at my heart.

17 March, 2009 at 1:12 pmI feel lucky to have the most wonderful husband. With the tough times we are facing and both being in AZ in construction, not knowing if we will have enough to pay the bills from day to day let alone still have a job next month, I know we can face anything together and set a wonderful example for our children. The most important things in life aren’t things, they’re each other.

17 March, 2009 at 1:56 pmThis night when sharing the bed with my 5 year old daughter for a little while i realized how lucky i was to see her in all her beauty. Letting go of all the struggle we have every day at dinner time. Shocked about how fast time goes by. A little sad that I need to divide my time between her & her little brother. I cried some tears of happiness. I have two beautiful kids, I’m supposed to be a grown up girl, I’m a MOM, … I think I’m okay with that… LUCKY you could say.

17 March, 2009 at 2:39 pmI cant quite use the term “Lucky”, because the word “Blessed” is more appropriate, for everything since my third daughter was born, this last year! I was laid off, like everyone else, had to sell our newly built home, but I am so blessed now, because for the first time in my life, I can be a stay at home mom! Which means the world to me! My baby is almost one year, and still sleeps with me, and she doesnt’ go very well, to other people, so to be able to stay home is such a blessing! When nothing else was selling in our area, we were able to get out from our house and sell it, so now we rent, and what a blessing to not have that house payment when being laid off! How truely blessed I’ve been this year! I couldn’t be more LUCKY!!!

17 March, 2009 at 4:31 pmI’m lucky to have God, my journal, people who understand me, dirt under my feet, the sky over my head, and the money to fly to the rockies next month.
I’m lucky to have babies to hold, toddlers to play with and people of all ages to laugh with. I’m lucky to be able-bodied (even though I’m sick- my body does work properly most of the time), and music that moves me so often.
it sounds odd, but I’m lucky to have struggled with depression my entire life, because it makes me see the world so differently… the world is a beautiful place even if I don’t always see that.

17 March, 2009 at 7:47 pmMy life the last few years has been all but blissful. Yet threw it all I try to keep a chin up sometimes to no avail! I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia 4 years ago and Crohns about 1 1/2 years ago. My husband and I worked together and due to my health we had to close. We have lost our home, cars etc… blah blah. I am blessed to still have the most important things in my life; my family. We moved back to my home town and into my grandparents home that they shared and raised their family in for 40 years. Cudos to them!! I am so blessed to have a husband and 6 children who love me even when I can’t do the normal things a mom does! For them; I am the mosed woman in the world!

So nice to hear good news…..

18 March, 2009 at 12:32 amGreetings from Morocco! I’m feeling lucky because I just stumbled across your blog!! Yeah!! I {LOVE} your blog and spent forever looking through your archives. I cannot tell you how blessed I am to discover another creative American expat… and it’s YOU! My husband and I have lived in Morocco for two years and one of my greatest challenges has been to continue being creative in a country that doesn’t put creativity high on the list (mostly because stamping/scrapbooking products are not available here!) I cannot wait to play with your digital products- it’s like a whole new world! I got so stinkin’ excited about the possibilities that I couldn’t sleep last night! LOL! Thank you SO much for being such an {amazing} inspiration!

18 March, 2009 at 4:10 amI’m a little late (March 18th) but I’m sitting here drinking coffee, while my family eats breakfast, and gets ready for their day. So lucky or blessed? because I’m sitting here drinking coffee while my family eats breakfast and gets ready for their day… We waited a long time to have a family. But God being in control knew exactly what he was doing. By the time we had a baby (now 15) it was possible for me to quit my job and stay home with our baby. In that time, our family grew by two more when we became guardian of our niece and nephew, it was such a blessing that I was a “stay home mom” they needed so much, and we were lucky, blessed, and thrilled that we were able to give them at least that much. So there you have it, coffee, bacon, lunch boxes & a stay home mom… Life is good!

18 March, 2009 at 9:58 amI am totally with you on the “blessed” point, as opposed to luck, so with that said, I consider myself to be soooooo LUCKY to have my faith in God, a house that I do not have to worry about losing, food in our pantry, a car that is reliable and a family that I would not trade for anything in the world. And I am sure to thank God for all this many times a day! 🙂 I also must say that i think it is quite a blessing to have the INTERNET, so I can be part of a lovely community of scrapbooking ladies (and Tim!), even though we all live far apart! 🙂
