Magnolia Jane | Mother’s Day Gift Wrap
Mother’s Day is in just a few days. We know it’s on the calendar, but if you are anything like me, it really does not get much attention until the week of. Sad, I know.
Today I want to show you how I am adding to my gifts this week by wrapping them with love for mom.
For these gifts I am using the Magnolia Jane Collection for the wrapping paper, the tag, and a diy flower. Wrapping a gift with 12×12 pattern paper only requires the gift box to be small enough to allow it full coverage by the paper. Jewelry box anyone? As long as the package is smallish enough, any pattern will look gorgeous on a gift for Mom.
For today’s post it’s my intention to highlight this flower embellishment found on this package. I love the drama this paper flower and all it’s fringed petals add to this simply wrapped box. I have included a tutorial showing just how easy it is to create these pretty floral additions.
Gather a few supplies (listed below) and join me as I walk you step by step through this paper flower tutorial. You’ll be making flowers all the live long day after you see how simply it all comes together.
Supplies:
pattern paper
trimmer
pencil
ruler
fringing scissors
hot glue gun, glue sticks
1.Trim 3 strips of pattern paper 2×12-inches.
(This will create a slightly smaller flower as I used 2×16-inch strips)
2. With the pencil and ruler, mark each strip of paper accordingly:
1 piece at 1/4-inch.
The next piece at 1/2-inch.
and the third pieces at 1-inch.
At this point you should have three strips of 2-inch wide pattern paper, with pencil line down the long edge of each.
3. Using the fringing scissors, cut each piece to it’s respective pencil mark.
4. Starting with the shortest fringed piece, roll the paper around the pencil, gluing periodically with the hot glue gun. Make sure the pattern is on the inside of the rolled paper.
5. When the shortest fringed piece is rolled, then wrap the next shortest piece around the first.
Continue this until the third strip is wrapped the same as the previous two.
6. Gently pull the ‘petals’ down to create the shape of the flower.
Tah dah! A fun and simple paper flower.
Hot glue to the top of a package.
Make a dozen and create a bouquet.
You can vary the lengths of the fringes.
You could add more or less.
You can make them solid or glitter or pattern.
Hope you enjoyed this tutorial. These paper flowers make for beautiful reasons to be happy and to make others happy. Create them for Mother’s Day gift wrap. For a bouquet. Or for any reason. Just create and share your heart.
I love gift wrapping so much. I have created a class just for you that teaches how to wrap with love your gifts that are thoughtful and personal. Please join me in Wrapped With Love where I share so many of my gift wrapped secrets.
