meeting baby aspen

meeting baby aspen

the weather here in SLC is pretty lousy, and apparently it’s affecting the flight schedules.  so i am sitting on the floor in the SLC airport eating a bag  of Lay’s potato chips with Quincy, and she says "doesn’t this just seem like a picnic!"… she has a lot better attitude than i do!
last week, my little sister, katie, gave birth to her first baby… a girl! a new niece for me! she had her while i was in chicago for CKU, and it was close to killing me that i couldn’t be there and see her for myself.  so quincy and i jumped on some frequent flyer miles yesterday and 24 hours and probably about 200 photos later,  we are headed back home.
dang, that is a cute baby!
she is just so sweet, so calm, so bright and alert! it was so fun to just sit and hold her!   they are so little and snuggly. that is pure bliss, holding a new one like that…
i am still trying to decide if it was making me feel excited… or scared to death!  i am pretty sure it’s a mixture of both!  i am definately excited to get me one of those… but i think that short 24 hour glimpse brought back some serious flashbacks.  life as i know it, will no longer exist… at least for a while! (smile)
it was so fun to see katie and her husband clark adapting and parenting.  clark has to be the cutest dad… he is completely  smitten with his new little girl… he still has his hospital bracelet on (a week later) and just doesn’t want to take it off… so sweet!
even a short visit is a good one… man, it’s hard to leave that little bundle!
such a miracle..

(6 hours later)
i am home… and the bunches of photos i took today have been perfect for a quick little project i had to pull together tonight. i have an appearance on channel 3 in the morning, to promote the women’s expo… and i am highlighting some of my products. we are showing some of my new paper,
self-adhesive chipboard, tape, photocorners, journaling spots etc… we have had some exclusive kits put together to sell at the expo! so that will be fun… alright… i gotta gather everything up for tomorrow… i think it will air around 8:30am.

fun stuff… cute baby!

Oh, just missed your TV segment. I watch 3 every morning in between trying to get son out of bed for school–every 5 minutes it’s tickle, take the bed covers off, shake, then it moves to the cold water and pulling feet over the edge, I get a little louder…threats of no computer, etc. continue until about 1 minute before we need to be on the road he rolls out of bed! By then I’m exhausted and haven’t accomplished anything. Teenagers! Don’t know how you do it all, Heidi but I am inspired! I may go to expo. Very, very cute kids! See ya.

Lucky for those of you that can have girl babies. My husband only knows how to make boys! Grrr. But this year I “borrowed” a teenage daughter from a friend of mine so I get to enjoy the fun without the diapers! Ha! She wanted to finish HS(high school, not you, Heidi) here while her parents relocated to TX and now CO so she lives with us. I never knew what I was missing before having all boys (3)…but now I know. It’s true girls just want to have fun. I’m loving the pink, sequins, hair coloring, conversations, etc. I even taught her to drive. Wish she would marry my 20+ yr old son so she could stay forever!!! You luckies!

I know how you feel about being a little excited and a little scared. Just when life was getting easier with a 6 yr old, our 2nd child arrived. Starting all over again with sleep deprivation, nap schedules and packing your entire universe with you via diaper bag everywhere you go is a daunting task. But the warm snuggles, the soft coos and seeing everything new through their eyes everyday far outweighs the rest. It doesn’t take long to realize that the new baby fills a hole in your life that you didn’t even know was there.

She is beautiful and has tons of hair. I’m so glad you got to jump up to Utah to see her. I think Quincy has the right idea by seeing the good in everything…even a simple “picnic” on the floor of the SLC airport. :o) Glad your’re home and hope to see you at the expo. http://jolenegeorge.blogspot.com/
