Memory Dex Plus Creative Play
Creative play is something I consider a necessity to the creative in general. As paper crafters we have the beautiful opportunity to play with a hobby that is not really expensive. We can make mistakes and happy accidents and explore the possibilities of paper, ink, and ephemera, and come away with a discovery, or an “ok…THAT didn’t work.”
Today is my pleasure to walk you through 4 ways I have used current Heidi Swapp collections to creatively play. The Memory Dex Desktop Spinner and cards are my jumping off place. We will take Magnolia Jane, Minc, Mixed Media and the Memory Planner collections and make 4 fun and unique cards. Are you with me? Ya might wanna grab a fav bev. I packed a lot in here for your viewing pleasure.

The first way I want to share a Memory Dex card is with the Magnolia Jane Collection.
Here is the anatomy of that card:
– First, using a Memory Dex Cutting Die, I die cut pattern paper from Magnolia Jane
– Then a piece of Washi Tape was added just to give some dimension.
– Using a frame from the Ephemera, I added a 3×3 photo to the back, and layered the frame to the card.
– A clear Ephemera flower was tucked in behind the frame.
– Lastly, a Gold Foil Acetate Word was mini stapled over the top of it all.
Pop the card in the Desktop Spinner and call it done!

Next creative play I recently enjoyed lately was using the Minc and the Minc Reactive Paint.
For the Minc Memory Dex card I started with watercolor paper. Watercolor paper is a great medium to play with the different Minc Mixed Media Mediums.
The paper was die cut using one of the Square Cutting Die.
I simply wanted foiled lines across this card. Enter the Reactive Paint.
Super hard to see in this image, but three stripes were randomly painted horizontal on the card.
Allow the card to dry really well.
Set the Minc Machine to the number 3 setting. Use a carrier sheet and cover the card with Champagne Reactive Foil and place between the sheet.
After plenty of play with the Minc collection and a Memory Dex card, I was pretty happy with the simplicity of these gorgeous stripes on the watercolor paper.
To complete this card and make it ready for the Spinner, I added a photo and a piece from Magnolia Jane. But those Champagne stripes are definitely the star of this card.
I love this kind of play? Ready for some more?

I love mixed media. It’s one of those mediums that just makes me happy anytime I get the chance to play. and on the Memory Dex card it’s just as fun.
To start this little how-to I have a quick video for you to watch.
After the floral screen was added to the Memory Dex card, the next part was to add the sentiment.
I only wanted my card to say ‘Just Be You’, so I masked off all the other words and letters.

I think I saved the super easiest for last. Because for this little inspo card, I am using a Memory Dex Patterned Card. From the Memory Planner Collection I grabbed a 3×3 card, Clear Floral Stickers, and the Weekend Clear Stamps.
One of the Clear Floral Stickers was adhered to the edge. It was then trimmed around the corner of the card.
The 3×3 Card was clipped to the edge. And then the ‘YES’ stamp in all it’s cute littleness was stamped right on the card. I love this inspirational addition to my Desktop Spinner collection. All these ideas work great for including a photo…or just to create visual reminders for the everyday.
Four ways to have some creative play. Four ways to add to your Memory Dex Spinner. Four ways to make pretty stuff. Keep those creative juices flowing by playing creatively. If not daily, at least weekly. And enjoy the process.
