Minc It Monday | Light-Up Shadow Box
Welcome to another week of Minc It Monday, where the team shares tips and tricks when using the Heidi Swapp Minc Foil Applicator Machine. This week I have been, along with most of the media team, purging and cleaning my office and craft space. There is something about the change of seasons that makes me want to get my space “ready” for the cold months ahead. I love a white and bright space. It makes me happy to sit in a space that the light bounces off of. I wanted a few new inspirational quotes for my space and this one by Heidi is perfect!
Let me show you how easy it is to make this Shadow Box Frame.
Find a shadow box frame that you love. I picked a 8″ x 10″ frame. Keep the glass in place and remove the back and mat.
Print the free “hustle” download here with a laser printer on to vellum. Minc the page according to package directions on heat setting 2 with your choice of Minc Reactive Foil. I used Champagne. Trim the vellum and a piece of scrapbook paper to fit in the frame. I used Heidi Swapp’s Magnolia Jane collection for mine.
Sandwich the layers together like this. Place the mat back inside the frame. Lay the vellum face down on the glass, the piece of scrapbook paper face down, and then tape them down lightly.
NOTE: If your frame has room between the layers, use a little adhesive to tape the vellum on the paper so that the vellum doesn’t move around.
Add lights. Use a light strand and adhere the battery pack to the bottom of mat. Move the lights to the top of the paper. No need to tape them down because the frame back keeps them in place.
Put the back back on the frame. After standing the frame upright see how your flowers glow! It really is a beautiful look!
Here is a photo so you can see that glow!
The white flowers glow and I love how it looks. If you are wanting an easy way to turn the frame off and on, use a battery pack that has a remote or timer on it! Or if you need to, just punch a hole in the back of the frame to draw the cord outside the frame.
All these supplies can be found at select Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores and in their online shop.
