MINIMALIST CARD MAKING HOW TO WITH STORYLINE CHAPTERS

Happy happy Friday sweet friends.

How are you all doing?  I hope that where you are you are safe and healthy and ready for a little dose of Friday creativity to take with you as we enter another weekend.

Encouraging Cards by Lindsay Bateman for @heidiswapp

As I was completing the project that I want to share today, my main focus was to keep the main thing the main thing.  And to keep things simple.  For once, just something that takes just a little time, yet can entirely change your mindset around all the while giving you that creative “dose” we all need and love so much.  I know we are all balancing a million things right now being at home, so I wanted to keep this project motivating in that you will see creating doesn’t always have to take up a ton of time and/or energy.  I call these my “minimalist uplifting creative therapy cards” :).

I say minimalist because I really only used a few products from the Heidi Swapp Storyline Chapters collection to create the mix and match of cards and tags you see here.

All of these would not have been possible without this beautiful friend I call the Storyline Chapters 12×12 Project Pad.

If you are in need to treat yourself with one new thing in the next little while, I highly recommend this beautiful project pad.  It is 12×12 size, full of pattern paper and solid coordinating colours…plus 2 full size sticker sheets that will make card making so easy to do.  I adore this project pad and it is what I used to create most of the cards you see here.

The pad even includes some “specialty papers” which include beautiful gold foil detailing and design.  Above you can see I used the rainbow specialty paper as well as the butterfly paper to create some cute and quirky cards.  I call these my “covid appropriate” card messages ;).  I used basic white card stock for the base of all my cards, I kept that consistent which kept designing them super easy and timely to complete.  All I did was add on different pattern papers, sentiments and the odd embellishment here and there.

Additionally I had some creative fun using the paper pads to create some layered tags here.  I added additional pieces of Storyline Chapters to these beauties found in the Tag set (which I personally LOVE).

I just love all the pretty, soft and calming colours.  It really is a breath of fresh air.

Here are some card close ups so you can see just how little is really needed to make a cute card!

One little fun “hack” I enjoyed doing was using the journaling spots to serve as a fun additional layering background for my cards.  The journaling spots are SO cute, I could not resist.

These are really a fun addition to cards and so simple to use and incorporate.

I hope you enjoyed these cards and are inspired to make and send a few of your own this weekend.  Set a little crafty time aside for your mind, heart and soul.  It will truly thank you.

Stay safe my friends and see you again soon!

As always, everything I shared here today is now available online at JOANN Stores.

Have a great weekend.
