My Craft Space – Storage in 2017
Hello everyone and welcome!
Today I am excited to share with you all an inside peek into my craft space. With a brand new year upon us, I am ready to face this year with a fresh mindset and some good clean organization on my hands. I want to be extra productive this year when it comes to my documenting and memory keeping. Essential to this goal is a space that works WITH me…not against me. That means simple and basic organization that will help keep my “active” stash in place, close by, easy to find and ready and waiting to be played with!
The main storage piece in my craft space is this dresser. It was purchased from IKEA after I fell in LOVE with it last year at CHA. We had it in the Heidi Swapp booth and I was completely amazed at not only the beautiful top surface, but also ALL those drawers! We all know storage is key when it comes to housing a paper crafting stash and this dresser does NOT disappoint. I highly recommend it to anyone that is looking for a gorgeous and very functional piece to add to their space. Awesome investment for sure.
On top of my dresser I have placed my WE R Memory Keepers Typecast and MINC. Both of these tools are not only just gorgeous to look at, but I use them a ton. Having them within my reach is so helpful when it comes to working on and finishing projects. For 2017, I displayed my ‘mantra’ (I guess you could call it) for this year on my Lightbox. My word for 2017 is CREATE so I thought this was a perfect fit. I added in the icons and then for the ‘create’ I used one of the brand new Heidi Swapp Wall Art words. These are brand new and now avail at Michaels Stores. I simply used black spray paint on my word to make it black and then adhered it to my Lightbox with a few Sticky Thumb sticky dots. I love the finished look.
Always close by are my gold scissors and stapler from American Crafts’ DIY Shop collection. Again, not only are these gorgeous decor pieces, but I use them all the time.
In the other corner you will find some of my favourite decor pieces, as well as a Gallery Wall clipboard that I love to change in and out with different inspirational art. A collection of my favourite washi, current albums I am working on, as well as a planner or two you will also find here. This area is always changing up depending what is on the go. Kind of my “active” ongoing space.
Now a little “inside” tour.
I dedicate one drawer solely to planner supplies. What you see here are previous planner supply releases. (I always keep the current release separate from this stash). In here you will find notepads, stickers, labels, cards, pencil cases, clips etc. Everything I need for quick embellishing within my planner. I love having it all in one space. Easy to get to and easy to search for what I am looking for.
Next up is my “essential junk drawer”.
I call this a ‘junk drawer’ only because it really looks like a total mess. Definitely NOT the prettiest drawer around…but is definitely one of the most used and most important! In here I keep all the basics. Scissors, adhesive, baby wipes, punch, hope glue, ribbon, tape runner, acrylic blocks and stamp pads. My number one go to drawer. I love having this here because again, I am not wasting time searching high and low for my scissors AND it also aids in speedy clean up. Once I am done just throw back everything in this drawer!
In another drawer you will find my collection of Marquee Love glitter, Marquee Love glue, and camera/printer USB cords.
Down below I keep all of my treasured hole punches and We R Memory Keeper punch boards together along with my mini MINC machine and Instax printer. I love the width and depth of these drawers. As you can tell…there is ample room for storage!
Beside that drawer is my LightBox stash. Yes…I own multiple LightBoxes 😉 I may be somewhat addicted…
In here I keep my extra Lightboxes that are not in current use, along with my icon storage albums, and extra inserts.
For 2017 I also wanted to share a few other ways I am storing/organizing some of my favourite supplies:
MINC tools (brushes, heat gun and rotary cutter):
This super cute vase from IKEA fits my brushes, heat gun and rotary cutter perfectly.
I found this gorgeous mint basket awhile back and use it to house my collection of MINC foil.
I have just recently made the change and now keep all of my acrylic stamps in my IKEA Raskog cart next to my work table and this has been a game changer for me!
I LOVE stamps…and have quite a collection but if I do not see them…they DO NOT get used. So now, having them within eye sight and within reach has made me use and appreciate them SO much more.
Keeping them hidden away in a drawer just did not work for me. So I am glad to make this positive change and look forward to really using these stamps in my projects, planners and pages in 2017.
And as for brand new supplies? I always store those beauties in a separate basket. Can’t wait to share MORE about these goodies SOON. Stay tuned!
I hope this little inside peek into my space has inspired you to look at your space and maybe change up a few things that have not been working for you in the best way. I find that when we go with what works…we work! It is the best combination!
Cheers to making 2017 a memorable and productive one!
