non traditional christmas cards

Ah Christmas ! My most favorite time of the year! I love the decorating, I love the Carolling and I love the gift giving! I also love making and sending Christmas cards for family and friends. There is just something satisfying about the art of crafting a Christmas card for a loved one and sending it! I challenged my self to use up my stash so I thought why not use some non traditional Christmas papers – the Art walk collection, and I think the result is a knockout!

I love the rich jewel like tones in the crimson pattern paper from the Art Walk collection that sets the tone for my three cards.

For my first card I used my die cutting machine to cut out the gold glitter tree using cardstock from my stash. I then backed it with that gorgeous crimson pattern paper from the Art Walk project pad.  I then used pop dots to adhere it to my folded white card stock.

I wrapped some white seam binding around the cardstock to add a feminine touch. I then used the green alpha stickers from the Art Walk project pad for the title. I used one of the Storyline Chapters tags and added the joy letters with pop dots. I then adhered the tag to my tree to complete!

For my next card I used the negative section from the tree cut from the glitter cardstock and adhered that on another piece of that crimson pattern paper from the Art Walk project pad. I used a star punch to punch out the white glitter star from the Project pad and then used some of the green alpha stickers again from the project pad to form my title. I backed them with foam tape and then adhered them across my card. I added some gold thread to act as the banner.

For my final card I started with that pretty pink paper from the Art Walk project pad.

I then grabbed some vellum from my stash and a circle stencil. I ran some of the Minc texture past through the stencil and allowed it to dry. I then laid some gold Minc foil over the texture paste and ran it through my Minc machine.

I trimmed the vellum into a large banner shape and then layered it over some other banner shapes trimmed from pattern paper taken from the Art Walk project pad. I finished off with that gold glitter reindeer I had in my stash.

I love this untraditional color pallet and love that I can use my stash and still celebrate the season!

You can find the Art Walk collection and the Minc collection at JoAnn stores now!
