Welcome to my space.
My very sacred space. As much as I consider myself a “people” person, in reality I am probably one of the biggest introverts on the planet. And I think the older I get, the more I find myself fitting into this category more and more. It truly is my happy place.
And in speaking of “happy places”, here is where I reside most when I am needing some of that quiet, recharge, reflection and rejuvenation.
Let’s face it. The world can be SO noisy and loud. Who doesn’t need their own private sanctuary every now and again?
Just recently I had been thinking a lot about things that I needed to change and eliminate from my (what was) current creative space situation. It was stifling. Un-motivating. Boring… to say the least. As a very visual person, I crave eye candy. After taking a few days to think about the direction I wanted to go, the perfect answer was a brand new gallery wall.
I am not sure if you all can relate, but as a creative I can get bored….VERY easily. It is both a blessing and a curse I have decided! However that is where a gallery wall is the perfect answer for me and my head space. It is not only super energizing and stimulating to look at, but I can change it up and alter the components SO easily! I can add more, take away….alter, customize…it is truly the perfect way to dress up any creative space.
My studio is set up in our loft, in which we have an A-Frame room. As much as I love it, it can be slightly tricky when it comes to walls and wall space. However, I was able to make some of my favourite pieces from Heidi Swapp’s Gallery Wall collection that is now available at Michaels (along with a few other home decor pieces I had) work perfectly. In fact, I found they complimented my ‘awkward’ wall really well. I am still so impressed!
I love the interchangeability I get in using frames, clipboards and shelves. That way I can switch out my frames…interchange what I want hung in my clipboards and be able to place a variety of cute things on this adorable shelf. It is the perfect size. Not too big, not too small. Just right for any little space you might be wanting to add in a little something extra.
Just a note too about the clipboards. They come white, so that way one can customize them to fit exactly the colour palette and theme you are desiring. For my clipboards I simply trimmed off a 4″ piece of pattern paper and added it onto the bottom of my clipboards. I love how it adds additional colour. And again, I can switch out the papers as I desire too.
To say I LOVE my Heidi Swapp Light Box would be a huge understatement. Absolutely one of the BEST pieces to add to any space…creative or otherwise. These are just awesome.
In my photo below, you will notice a pallet sign “Be Where You Are”. I created this sign using my Silhouette Cameo, a Jodie York Silhouette cut file, and the White Wash Paint Distress Kit.
I wanted to share with you exactly how I created this piece. I LOVE these faux wood pallets as I believe their creative possibilities are truly endless in what you can achieve. The sheer fact that they are totally customizable is the best. Most of all, I want to SHOW you all just how EASY it is. Seeing is believing! Trust me on this one! ANYONE can create a gorgeous faux gallery wall piece with these products. I promise! You can check my full start to finish video tutorial below:
