Sharing Gratitude with Foil Flakes

Welcome to November where the makes get grateful.

For me it’s the most wonderful time of the year already. While there is Thanksgiving just weeks away, I for one am here for all the holiday makes and giving and cheer. Who’s with me?

There is a tradition I have done for a few years now and that is to create handmade cards and give them on Thanksgiving Day. Now, you’ve heard me say before, any season is card making and giving season. But don’t you think there is just something to be said for sharing gratefulness during the month that is all about gratitude? I knew that you would.

Here is one way I am going about just that idea.

I gathered a few of my favorite Heidi Swapp items for these card makes:
Carefree 6×8 Paper Pad
Gold Foil Flakes
wide double sided adhesive
scraps of cardstock

First, I cut a card front from Carefree pattern paper. I chose the 6×8 Paper Pad to find some complementary patterns to make a set of cards. I trimmed that paper to 6-inches wide by 3 1/2 inches tall. For now set this aside.

Then, I trimmed some scrap cardstock to 3×4 and covered it with wide double sided adhesive. After I removed the backer paper, I then used craft tweezers to pull out sheets of the Foil Flakes to cover the adhesive panel. To finish I gently rubbed the Foil Flakes flat on the surface. This was set aside.

Next I chose one of Heidi Swapp’s Digital cut files to cut the word grateful out of the 6 x 3/12 inch panel, making sure the word was no wider than 4 inches and no taller than 3 inches. If your word is larger, than adjust the Foil Flakes card size.

After the word cut was made, I then added glue to the back of the card front all around the word. Then I took the Foil Flakes card and adhered that to the back of the grateful.

To finish these cards, I used the grateful card flat and sewed it to another piece of Carefree pattern paper creating a pocket. Inside the pocket I tucked my note. On this note I will share all the gratefulness I have for the recipient this season and always.

That is just one easy way to use the Foil Flakes and share your grateful heart with one another.
