Storyline Chapters | Two Stories. One Page

Storyline Chapters has become a very important part of my story telling and documenting this year. There is a post HERE on the Heidi Swapp Blog where I show how I document a week in a Storyline Chapters Insert. Refer to that post and it will reveal the why behind the page here today.

The page spread here is what I call Two Stories. One Page. Since I am attempting to tell one week’s story on one page spread, sometimes those stories do not look congruent.

What do I mean by that? For instance, on the left side page of the Insert I have documented in grid fashion my week in a life. This is where my past pocket page style weekly story telling now comes to life in this Storyline Chapters Insert. By choosing just a few photos to represent a week in my year I can keep that story all on one page.

But what then if the main story of the week sort of clashes with the week in the life story?

Well the answer to that question for me was vellum.

I added in a page of vellum. By adhering a sheet of vellum in between I can still create an aesthetically pleasing page layout. This way the next story is obviously still on this page spread, sharing the happenings of this week in our family’s life. But…I also have a wonderful MAIN story of the week that is all in one place.

That main story being the engagement of my oldest son. Yes. This was a story that needed it’s very own page. But I also needed it to be part of my family album. I wanted to be able to turn these pages and have all the events in one place. Just one of the ways I am using Storyline Chapters to document our stories.

Today’s post includes THIS video. The video is a walk through of this year’s Chapters so far. In this video you will also get a much more interactive look at this vellum separated page. And how all the pages work together to tell our big family story.

I would like to invite you to view the Walk Through Video that is a companion to this post.
You can view that post HERE.
